Overview
About Me
I am a student in London studying Social Anthropology at The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). I have a passionate interest in the world and people and creatures, with my soul goal in life to recognise and share the beauty of this world.
I try not to participate in anything that has negative consequences, whether this is the immediate (such as insulting someone close to me), or the not so immediate (such as avoiding all products connected with the intensive farming industry). However, I am not pretending to be some angelic being - we all make mistakes sometimes!
I am currently living in student halls, so having people to stay is sadly not an easy option for me! Though, hopefully soon this will change.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people; gaining new perspectives and finding new friendships and love. I love experiencing different ways of living life, or the same way in a complete different location! I love hearing new ideas on morality and humanity and the world and cats and anything, from new mouths. I love new jokes and sharing old stories! I love being welcomed and welcoming people. I love the freedom that travel without money means, and the spontaneity that staying anywhere without a penny holds. I love experiencing the generosity of humanity!
Interests
People are my main interest! I love people for all of their oddities and niceties and uniqueness.
I love getting outside in nature and absorbing all the beauty she has to offer; I love swimming in the ocean and rivers; I love camping on the hard, kind ground; I love sitting under old trees; I love watching the sunset and the stars come out and eventually the sun rise again; I love standing in terrential rain, or basking in warming sun; I love walking through thunderstorms; and I love dancing.
I am really interested in eating and preparing food, and am really keen on fuelling my body with the most natural, fresh and best food available!
I love to drink herbal tea and play the harp.
I love the sensation of travelling - trains, cars, boats, bikes, feet, hitching, flying and running; I like to feel like I am getting somewhere, that things are changing.
I love quiet time alone sometimes to simply reflect upon the complexities and fullness of life, before springing back up to sociability.
I love writing down my dreams and my emotions - trying to decipher meaning and purpose. And, I love ancient wisdom - the stuff that can't be learnt in dry textbooks!

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: I like a huge variety of music, including African, classical, reggae, dub, 'dance' (e.g. garage, jungle), ska, jazz, blues, rock - it depends on the day and the mood and the environment and the activity, but mostly I am easy going.
MOVIES: The Lord of the Rings will always be a favourite, but anything with a good sense of adventure I will enjoy. Avatar the children's programme I recently discovered, and that is really amazing.
BOOKS: Something with adventure or wisdom or both. At the moment I am reading both 'The Woman Who Run With The Wolves' and also 'Brisingr' from the 'Inheritance' cycle - both are amazing!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was travelling in India, I spent 11 days doing a silent Vipassana meditation course in Bihar. I was the only female participant, so felt very alone. It is difficult to sum up the whole experience here, but I learnt a lot about the connection between the physical and the mental in all forms - an unhappy mind will express itself as a pain upon the body, whilst a healthy body will create a calm and tranquil mind. It is important to maintain goodness in all things!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn and hear from people, and also to share any ideas I might have!
I used to teach the piano, and could probably give some people some ideas.
I know quite a lot about English, and would to help anyone with that.
I know a little bit about harvesting - which berries and mushrooms and flowers to eat, but no extensive knowledge!
