About Me

ABOUT ME

I´m Andrés, a 27 y/o friendly Spanish (I was born in Seville but I have lived most of my life in Madrid) architect currently based in London, where I work in an architectural office. I lived in Chicago one year while studying fifth course of architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology. I consider myself to be a very responsible and sensible guy, who loves art, playing music, reading, practicing languages (specially english) making artistic photos with my camera and short films, and specially traveling and traveling all around the world. I also love playing sports such as tennis, paddle and swimming.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even though I have never had a CS experience yet, I think Couchsurfing can be the best platform to get to know really amazing people all around the world by exchanging impressions and thoughts with the hosts, at the same time that it offers a convenient and cozy way to stay in a city while visiting!

Interests

I really love art. I enjoy so much making sculptures and painting.

Architecture is a passion for me as well. You can see the projects I design in my webpage www.andresgmeneses.com, as well as some of my sculputures :)

The most amazing piece of architecture ever I think is Leça de Palmeira Swimming Pools by architect Álvaro Siza in Oporto, Portugal...and what about the Fallingwater House , from Frank Lloyd Wright? Omg. I also love Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier so much...

I love music and playing instruments as well, and listen to it everyday. I jam everyday with my roommate, specially focused on blues, we have so much fun playing together. I play the guitar, the piano, and a little bit of violin and drums.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits is maybe the best guitar player in the world...
I love the classics so much: Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Neil Young, the Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Bill Withers...

My three favorites songs ever are probably: Sultans of Swing (Dire Straits), Hotel California (The Eagles) and Layla (Eric Clapton).

I also love piano songs from Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Einaudi, great composers.

In terms of movies, I recently watched "The salt of the Earth" and was deeply touched by it!!

My favorites movies are: Gladiator, Titanic, the Man in the Iron Mask, E.T., Les Chorus, The departed, Untouchable, No country for old men, Match-point (from Woody Allen)...my top 1 on the list is Le Mépris (The contempt) by Jean-Luc Godard, an amazing french film director.

One hundred years of solitude, from García Márquez...maybe the best book ever written?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done skydiving the year I spent in Chicago, and it has been one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had!! Definitely would repeat :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach how to play the guitar/piano or how to model sculptures with clay!!! I can also teach Spanish, of course hahaha. I would love sharing some architectural knowledge too!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I consider myself open and loving to share experiences and stories with the people I meet, I definitely enjoy the exchange of knowledge and points of view with different people, as I consider it an amazing way to learn not only from the other person but about the world and the humanity itself. If you feel identified with the things I have written in my profile, it means we are most likely to get along very well!!!
