ABOUT ME

Not my favorite topic... since I am more interrested in others than myself.

I like the good simple things (a great meal, a good lough with friends, etc.) as well as the more elaborate ones : playing music in an orchestra, discussing philosophy or reading poetry...

I am generally easy going and cannot stand people yelling at each other.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a stoic, which is quite helpful in France at this time and age...
I also believe in having strong ethics and preserving the environment.

I don't like hotels, which I find cold and impersonal, as well as expensive.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was in Budapest and met a friend of my cousin's in a restaurant for diner. We got along famously and I spent the remaining 2 nights of my stay on his couch.

The last time someone slept on my couch, it was after I discovered my neighbour lying on his doorstep in the middle of the night. The young felllow had lost his keys at a party and he couldn't reach his oncle, the owner of the flat.

Interests

I seek new and exciting things, or else I look for style in the old ones : the traces left by the personality that informed them.
I love travelling, and the thrill of encounter.
I swim and run on a regular basis.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical music : I play the violin in an amateur orchestra and I play chamber music.
Cinema : For me, anything that stands the test of time is worth checking. But I have a soft spot for comedies from the 30's and Film Noir.
Books : Conrad (Lord Jim, Nostromo, etc.), Poe, Marai, Cortazar (Hopscotch)...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A helicopter flight above the Grand Canyon.
A peaceful encounter with a blackbear in the mountains of Colorado.
Sailing the Eolian Islands, and climbing the Stromboli at dusk.
