Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
Writing my bachelor thesis, then recover from it in Cape Verde, then moving to Berlin to start something new
ABOUT ME
I'm studying languages and communication (Spanish, English) in Cologne.
I can be funny and silly but also very thoughtful. I like to read about politics or feminism and gender and I'm always open for new perspectives and debates on every kind of topic. I like to be surprised and to learn something new!
I travel mostly alone because it gets me out of my comfort zone and in fact, when traveling alone you're never alone because it's impossible not to meet people. Also I often just don't want to compromise on the destination I want to go to, if nobody wants to go with me, then I go alone. I met a lot of amazing people this way. It also helped me a lot to get more independent and to deal with difficult situations on my own. There's almost no tough situation whilst traveling which can not be solved somehow.
PHILOSOPHY
"When I was 5 years old, my mum always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy.' They told me I didn't understand the assignment and I told them, they didn't understand life." (John Lennon)
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
.. because staying and meeting up with locals is the best opportunity to get to know a new place. If you don't know the people you don't really get to know the country. So far I've had amazing experiences with Couchsurfing and I'm really grateful for the people I've met. It's not only great to find a place to stay but also to find people to hangout with, which I mostly used it for recently.
Interessen
I enjoy reading a lot, going out with friends, music, learning foreign languages, cooking – although I'm not very good at it. I also started dancing Forró, a brazilian partner dance, like two years ago and I'm really enjoying it. I'm super interested in Brazil and learning Portuguese at the moment. I'm hoping to do a big Brazil-trip once.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I'm open-minded to almost every kind and genre of music. When going out in Germany my favorite kind of music is techno, minimal and deep house. Also, I like going to concerts and festivals, e.g. last year I saw the Colombian band Bomba Estero in Cologne which was great.
When travelling I enjoy when people share their music with me, so later on in life particular songs remind me of the good time I had at some particular place in the world. (Someone once showed me this amazing Uruguayan band - La Vela Puerca - which is one of my favorites and now I'm listening to it a lot). I listen to a lot of Spanish music because it's the most beautiful language of all and for me it's a fun way to improve my Spanish.
When it comes to books and movies, I love all the utopian/dystopian stuff. 1984 and Brave New World obviously are classics and I lovelovelove the Netflix series Black Mirror. Basically the more psychopathic and creepy and fucked up the personalities the more I like it. It gets even better when there is a hidden message about life and society as well which makes you think about it even days after.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Salar de Uyuni and Machu Picchu are the most amazing places I've seen so far. I really fell in love with Colombia, had one of the best times of my life so far there. Also, someone I met during my travels taught me how to pronounce "Worcestershire sauce", that was mindblowing. I was saying it wrong for 22 years.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can share everything about my culture and you can learn the most beautiful language of all if you want to - German!! Also I can share some stories about my traveling (specifically Couchsurfing) experiences, there have been a lot of ups and downs, fun and sad stories but always memorable.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
Cooking, nice and deep conversations while drinking a glass of wine :)
To all the Spanish speakers:
"El que al mundo vino y no toma vino, a que chucha vino?"
