ABOUT ME

I'm a Dutch girl, currently living in Berlin. Right now i'm about to finish my 2nd study, graduated already as a graphic designer, almost my paper in the pocket for creative concept development & photography at the artschool in Rotterdam.

The only task left to do is writing my final thesis, which i will do during my travels in South America. I put my study on a hold for a couple of years since i got an exciting job at a creative agency in Shanghai. After living in China & Hong Kong for a long time, i decided to travel around a bit more through South East Asia & return after to Berlin.

Back in Berlin i rolled straight away into another great job in the creative event scene, so the past years i never managed to pick up my studies again. I recently quit my job cause it started tickling for traveling again, i followed my heart & here i am. Freshly arrived on a entire new continent for me, ready for adventure & ready to write my thesis.

Back in Berlin i just got officially freelance, so this period will be for me as well about exploring my own creativity again. Pick up my camera again & figure out what i want with my own personal art. My past jobs were amazing experiences where i learned a lot, but it was most of the time comissioned work. I felt the time has come i want to work from my heart & find a way to make work that has a social/ environmental impact.

I arrived a month ago here in Ecuador, my first stop was at my friends family place just outside Quito. We went for one month on a big medicine trip through the Andes, visiting all their befriended medicine man/ woman. Much inspiration on an introspective level, as well a close look into how the environmental impact is. The importance of protecting the land & spreading this all over the world.

Much more than mountains i did not get to see yet till this far, some time to digest all last month input is needed as well so it's time for me to spread my wings & make some adventures on my own.

I'm here on a single ticket, so let's see where South America will take me!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm pretty new to couchsurfing, never used this medium so much in the past, even though i'm indirectly a host already for many years.

In Berlin i'm living together with my boyfriend & we've a nice spacy guestroom in our flat, most of the time occupied by friends & famlily, or other travelers i meet along the way. Friends of friends, random travelers i meet in berlin, etc, somehow they know how to find us since we're from different countries & have a big international friend circles. We enjoy it a lot to have so much life & different cultures in the house :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Until this far my only real couchsurf experience was in Hong Kong & Thailand a couple of years ago. I had to spend a month in Hong Kong to wait for my Chinese visa, this was an amazing time.

Stayed with the sweetest locals, got to know a few other travelers who participate in CS, the best way to get to know a place & not being just another tourist in another place!

Centres d'intérêt

My main interest is focussed on the creative scene, especially art & photography. I love traveling, nothing more i enjoy than a new cultural experience in a new place with new people to get fresh input from.

Since a while i'm a collector of natural objects, self found treasures on my travels from all around the world, but back home i keep on hunting for interesting pieces. What once started with a little crystal/ mineral collection, extended to bones, old snake skins, stuffed birds & spiders, coral bones & much more. with family who works in argeology & a natural historic museum in Germany i have the luck to turn my house slowly in a little museum as well. Of course all treasures given by nature & not taken by human!

I practise meditation & yoga on regular base since many years, mainly since my travel input has been through asia. since the past half a year i decided to extend my spiritual practices through plant medicine, a new adventure i explore as well on a cultural level with my friends from south america.

Cooking is another thing i love to do, give me a kitchen, some food & music & i've the best time!! In the general rule i try to avoid meat which is a challenge during traveling sometimes. If i prepare you a dish, i promise you won't miss the meat in your dish.

Other than this: documentaries, mainly on social/ eco, political topics, as well on art. Nothing makes me as happy as being in nature, a walk in the mountains or a dive in the sea.
