My name is Carla, born and raised in Chile. I moved to Vienna in September 2021 to study for my master's degree in Gender Studies. I graduated and decided to stay longer in Vienna (I don't know for how long tho).

My time here in Vienna has been amazing. I love the city and especially the friends I have made, who I believe will be friends for life. Sharing conversations and moments with my friends has been one of the most important learnings from this experience of moving to Austria.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking to meet new people and learn from them.

I love the concept of Couchsurfing: more than free accommodation, I'm looking to have meaningful conversations and get to know the city (or about it) through someone who actually lives there.

I hosted in Chile, but then with the pandemic, I couldn't do it anymore. In Vienna, I live with roommates, and it is not easy to host.

Interests

I am very interested in activism (particularly feminist and queer activism) and would love to share our reflections, inspirations, and other ideas related to social justice and activism.

I love movies, so I'm happy to share movie recommendations and reflections.

If you have pets, I'd love to meet them. My family in Chile has two adorable dogs and a cat - I miss them so much!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy different styles of music but I think that my favourite ones are rock, new wave, post-punk and trova. These are some of the groups/singers that I like: The Cure, New Order, Violent Femmes, Jack Johnson, Patti Smith, Daft Punk, Ismael Serrano, Silvio Rodríguez.

With respect to movies, I'd love the ones that can promote social justice and radical changes. I also like science fiction. Here are some of that really struck me: Todo sobre mi madre, Only lovers left alive, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul , Land and Freedom, Do the Right thing
