About Me
Hi! I am Mónica and I love travelling, of course.
In 2015 my sister and I created a travel website to give advice and tell about our experiences. My long-term goal in life is to become a digital nomad so as to have enough independency to live on the way or everyway I feel like staying for a while. Already looking for such a great job!
I travel with any friend that is available, but many of my trips are either with my boyfriend or my sister.
My two favourite countries in Europe are Italy and Germany, where I lived for a year (2013-2014) in order to improve my German skills.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love Couchsurfing because it is a great way to discover new places from a local perspective, going to that little bar, village or special palce that doesn't appear in the guides, getting to know traditions or anything about the culture that I didn't know before... Plus meeting people and having friends around the world is always a great experience. I also love speaking the languages that I learn ;)
Interests
Languages, reading and, above all, travelling.
If my boyfriend and I ever get to become digital nomads, our dream is to buy a motorhome to travel the world. We are already saving up!

Music, Movies, and Books
The Impossible is one of my favourite movies. I love Leonardo DiCaprio's films (Shutter Island, Inception, Django Unchained) and historical films in general (The Pianist, Life is beautiful).
Regarding books, I don't think I could choose just one, but some books I loved were:
- The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns and And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini (one of my favourite writers).
- The Little Hero, by Andrew Crofts
- Pillars of the Earth and World Without End, by Ken Follett.
- The Seamstress / El tiempo entre costuras, by María Dueñas.
- Palmeras en la Nieve, by Luz Gabás.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Our Interrail trip in 2009. I was 19, my sister was 17 and we travelled around Europe for 5 weeks: 9 countries, 22 cities and our start as travellers. It was the trip that proved travelling was as great as we imagined. And we haven't finished since then.
Finally moving to Germany in 2013.
Visiting the Great Wall of China in 2015. I just couldn't believe I was there!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can speak Spanish, English, Italian and some German, although I can't speak the last two ones without making mistakes. But anyway, if you are interested in learning some words, I would be willing to help!
I can cross-stitch and do crochet work (really basic level), in the remote case that is an ability you would like to learn!
Other than that, I am not the best cook in the world precisely, but I can cook some nice Spanish dishes that I could cook for you if you want!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Apart from what I mentioned above, I can share a nice talk, which is precisely the reason why I love the idea of CS. As you can imagine, I can talk about travelling for hours: trips I've taken, trips I would love to take or trips other people have taken...
I know you know what I mean.
If my hosts/guests have some time off, I also like spending time with them around the city to discover / show new or less typical places.
