About Me

Hi there!

This little 'kiwi' is living in Peth, Australia at the moment.
I have a strange work situation called "Fly in, Fly out' which is on an iron ore mine camp in the outback desert of Western Australia. Its a unique set-up, as i work 2 weeks on, and one off. It can be full-on, but I love what I do here, feeding miners all my sweet dessert creations. Theres a lot of room for creativity and on a smallish camp of 500 people, i get a lot of good feedback, which is rewarding!
As a person, im pretty friendly, but have a quiet side, and dont like to be a bother to anyone, but im interested in people from all walks of life, hearing their stories, and learning about the world.
Im a little creative, a little musical, a little arty and a bit of a traveller, since my work time off allows for it. :)
Im a big animal lover, but cant keep pets due to work, so if anyoone has a dog, they will definitely get some love and probably a walk, if Im allowed! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im about to embark on a trip to the USA, to do some hiking, go to Burning man, and find a little adventure, Im not sure of what kind yet! :)
So couchsurfing seemed like a nice way to get about and see the real world of America, rather than a party style hostel situation. Id really like to make some new friends, and hopefully be able to return the favour to them, if they end up on my side of the globe in the future!

Interests

I am a self taught cake decorator...you can see my stuff at tracydevetter.tk, if you like! Im interested in animal rights and have volunteered at a dog shelter in Thailand a few times, which i loved! It really showed that humans can be so kind and giving.
Enjoying movies drains more of my time than it should, and have been reading a little philosophy later, which helps me feel my soul is a little fullfilled.
I love to get hands on creating costumes, hence the joy of burning man, but creating anything is relaxing for me, from baking, to crafting, and interior decorating.

Music, Movies, and Books

Life is beautiful is a fabulous bittersweet movie, a definite must see!
Most Wes Anderson films are up tehre on my list, and I love a good sci-fi, but they are hard to come by, (Interstellar is great)
Best book of all time...1984, i was so soked to walk past where George Orwell lived in London, just by chance! Its a game changer for me.
I like many types of music, so long as its not on most commercial radio stations, i guess, always open to new and interesting things...my latest fave is todd terje.. check him out:)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed a volcano in Indonesia, starting at 1am to be at the 3300m mark for sunrise!
Whata splendid morning, despite being a little hungover and lacking in sleep, the fact that i didnt fall down the mountain is the amazing part! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy sharing travel stories, and would gladly create a tasty dish for dinner using the skills i have learned wrking in a commercial kitchen. And if oyu lie sweets, een better, cause I have the best carrot cake recipe ever...EVER!
