About Me

Hey folks! I will not host anyone who is not willing to read my profile! All of it! I've hidden two codes, so I'll notice!
I am a genuine "Münchner" one of those 10% inhabitants actually born in this splendid city. However I grew up in Italy and returned back here for studies and work. I'm a travelled European and despite that I do love my hometown I know many places all over Euorpe with their own fascinating prospects and magnificent vibes. I'm a historian and I studied medieval history in Munich and Augsburg. I'm a true knight and a passionate sword-fighter, a decent composer of classical music, a good cook and a very open minded talker as well as listener, who loves a bottle of wine with an inspiring discussion.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to show my city off the beaten track. Munich isn't just Hofbräuhaus, Englischer Garten or Oktoberfest: there's much, much more! On the other hand I want to visit places with people actually living there. I want to catch those places and be a part of them at least for a while! As a host, I'm not a free hotel and I wont accept guests with copy paste requests, tell me why you want to stay with me and please end your text with "yours faithfully".

Interests

Having fun is basically the main reason for our existance. We only live once and thus one has to make the best of the life one has. Squeezing out every single hour for its very last drop of joy, pain, anger or lust. That's it! OK: I'm a big fan of Epicurus!

As a rule, I don't particularly care for religion and the idea of a God who has been conspicuous by his absence for at least the last 2000 years. But I love conversations about religion and I know the Christian faith relatively well (that's why I turned my back on this club!).

I consider myself a humanist, an enlightened person (Kant not Buddha!)of a post-modern renaissance that seems to have reached a point of allowing change and freeing humanity from its dusty outdated concept of guilt and atonement and instead imparting reason and passion for life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well apart from Epicurus I love the writings of Montaigne. I like reading a lot but mainly I read history-stuff such as "Dieu et nous seuls pouvons" by Michel Folco. And for music: it depends. I nearly like all kind of music. I have some problems with reggae, military music and free jazz. I do listen to Industrial, Depeche-Mode, The Cure and Electro but also Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann...
Movies? It depends on the company :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every guest I host has always been something special. Beyond that, there are always experiences that will certainly never be out of one's mind. And there are really a lot of them! I couldn't limit myself to just one thing here. But if I may list a few: My children's births; beeing a rock star for some years; I sung christmas-songs with his royal highness, the duke of Saxony, ate papal cookies and pledged allegiance to a real emperor. I defended a market-place killing about 3 Vikings ;) I spent 10 days in the middle ages in Denmark. Eating a big sandwich I escaped some wild dogs at parco borghese in Rome, I had a wonderful night under the open sky during the perseids in Brittany and many more things......

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach german, music-theorie, the basics of medieval swordfighting and cooking, however nobody comes here to attend a teaching course, but to spend extraordinary moments! If you have made it this far, then put an asterix at the beginning of your message
