About Me
Hello everyone in the world!
This is Jamie, you can call me either Jamie or Yeongyo or Yoyo as you want! (my Aussie friend couldn't pronounce Yeongyo, it became Yoyo. Easy!)
Born and raised in South Korea, living perfectly just same as others until I attended a speech about working holiday visa in my university when I was 19. It had woken up the travel bug inside me.
Then I took a break from my uni, flew to New Zealand right after I became 21. I was really young and dumb, don't know what to do, just wanted to give a change in my life. After a year in New zealand, I had learned a bit how to survive in the other country and came back home. Went back to uni for one semester but couldn't continue it anymore, took a break again and never go back.
After traveling and living in the other side of my own country(Pyeongchang, YES, where 2018 Olympic is going on!!!) and SE Asia for a while, I got on the flight to Australia when I was 23. After 2 years in Aus, I had learned how to enjoy my life and now I'm a little older and less dumb.
Through these last few years, I kinda figure it out what kind of attitude and thoughts I should have to face everyday to be happy, then I believe that every single day is gathered, become my life.
Basically I only have been to Asia and Oceania, I think it's time to discover Europe. For that, I would like to see how it is like living in each country to select my next working holiday visa.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Ok, let me be honest. The first reason is to make my budget.
But!!! that's not the only reason. If I only wanted save money, I would visit my friend's places only.
I love meeting new random people, share the thoughts and have fun together. I reckon that's the main resource of my development. I learn by copying the other better ones, and once I become a good one, I love to influence me to the others. Just like I brought my little sister to Aus when she was having her hard time in Korea, she was 18.
And THE LOCALS! This is a perfect opportunity to meet locals easily. I don't want to make my trip only taking a selfie front of castles and having an expensive meal in any random restaurant located in main street with full of tourists.
The locals know which bus will bring me to a quiet and beautiful park to chill and which street vendor has the best food in that area, so I can just act like locals ;)
Interests
I am a very active person. Basically chatty, love to explore the other side of the world and mother nature maximizes my energy to hike, swim, and surf!
After a day adventure, one of my joy is having a bottle of beer or a glass of red with good companies.
I am graduated from being completely drunk, doing some stupid stuff and wasting the next day suffered by hangover. (But I would love to share my stupid stories if you want!)
Also, started to love drinking tea since I found a very nice Thai tea last year in Thailand. Hopefully I have some left to give you a try by the time we meet!
Living in one of the most expensive country made me to put a priority on cooking my own meal. Making a simple sandwich in the beach/ mountain/ park is the best!!!
My mom was shocked how much I can adapt and enjoy new flavors as she had hard time with food in Taiwan for her honeymoon (I just don't understand!!!!)
I am willing to stop walking when I see any cats on street and pet them. I like dogs but I love cats!

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently my favorite artist is Tame Impala. Or Alabama Shakes. I cannot say which one I prefer more, depends on my mood. Also enjoy listening Lettuce's funky music when I ride a bike.
I love watching well made 90's and 00's movies and get inspired. Recent favorite one is 'The curious case of Benjamin Botton'.
Started to watch 'Game of Thrones' since 2 years ago and I'm definitely crazy about it.
