About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Love others, learn and be inquisitive
ABOUT ME
I'm Kitty. I live in Sydney Australia and mostly grew up in Wollongong, just south of Sydney. I recently graduated from university and really enjoyed my studies. Now I work in an adult person job and do lots of other things. Let's get to know each other!
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind and helpful to others. Also in broader global philosophy, I think the way we live at present is threatening the environment and humans' place on the earth. I want to be part of inducing change in some way and so I tend to get involved in activist activities through uni and outside uni. I'm also vegetarian. I'm in an informal cycling club in Sydney and we have so much fun discovering new places and eating ice cream. If you couch surf with me you should definitely join us if we can rustle up a spare bike.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to offer couch surfers to stay however I live in a share house with quite a few other students and so everyone has to be OK with it and it is not always convenient for all. We are usually all quite busy. I also look forward to using couchsurfing on my next adventure... not sure when or where that will be at the moment.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couchsurfed in India and Thailand. It was great and I made some amazing friends. I would like to get to know people and places more intimately than a fleeting visit would enable. I've had couch surfers as guests at share houses and it's always been a nice opportunity to meet new people.
Interests
Swimming, history, politics, philosophy, dancing, nature, cycling, snorkeling, adventures, being silly. I feel very at home in water so there is nothing I love more than diving into the ocean and getting dumped by heavy surf. I especially enjoy word games such as anagrams. Puzzles and games. I like strategy card games and board games. I like camping, trekking and swimming/ visiting waterholes and the like. Food is also one of the joys of traveling for me. Ordering a meal that you're unsure of and getting a tasty surprise or going to a busy market is great. I love most foods. I love cycling and bicycles so if you're into it as well I'm sure we'll have a great time sharing skills and knowledge and stories. I'd love to build my own bike eventually and I'd love to cycle tour around the world someday.

Music, Movies, and Books
Most music. I like rap and hip hop like Nas to soulful music like Joni Mitchell and also popular current music. Bjork is great. I love going to see live bands too. I saw Bonobo live on my 21st birthday and I will see him again in July this year! Wow. One of my favourite books is "An Imaginary Life" by David Malouf, a great Australian author. I love books like the Narnia series, Harry Potter and books by Ian McEwan, Tim Winton and Meg Rosoff and books about history. I really like "All Quiet on the Western Front", though it was extremely sad and harrowing. I also love adventure books and one of my favourite stories is "My Side of the Mountain" in which a 12 year old boy runs away to live in the wilderness in the Catskill mountains in the state of New York.
I don't watch much TV, but a show I like is Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekking in the beautiful mountains of Shan state in Myanmar. Eating Delicious Shan food in villages and being welcomed into homes by kind people.
Ambling our way to school in Seoul in the early morning, sky grey with fog and pollution.
Exuberant riotous Karaoke (Norae-bang) in Korea with friends
Sharing the pool with frogs and cane toads when we lived in Cairns, North Queensland. Exploring the daintree forest in far north Queensland
Going out on a surfboard in the ocean in my hometown and dolphins swimming underneath me. That's probably the best one :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can swim, I've done surf life saving as I grew up on the coast, I'm OK at surfing though I haven't done it in a while, cycle, dance, ski, anagram, play cards and other games. I can rap Beastie Boys songs. I can share some bike maintenance, repair and build skills.
Things that I would like to improve/ learn: cooking, sports, languages, everything.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cycling, swimming, I can show you how to be safe in the ocean eg spotting rips etc.
