About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Couchsurf the South Pacific!
ABOUT ME
Exploring how life and language fit together through world travel is my life mission. I see communication and understanding as fundamental to having great life experiences. I'm open to making connections with people and getting to know as many people as I can (that's one reason I study languages!). I'm very considerate and respectful. I'm also super energetic and engaging with a ton of stories to tell.
PHILOSOPHY
Treat others as you would like to be treated and remember that we all fall short. Let he who is without fault cast the first stone, but remember that the stone you cast may be the same one over which you stubble and fall. Life isn't about not making mistakes, but about how we deal with them, owning them, making amends, and ultimately becoming better people. Aim to build a better life, day by day!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I'm traveling and hope to make connections with people by surfing; however after I get my own place and settle down in September, I'll be hosting anyone seeking awesome company in the Vancouver area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have yet to couchsurf, but I'm looking forward to this new adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books
I quite literally enjoy all types of music. I'm not a huge fan of country, but I still enjoy it in small doses. I've been rocking away to Stromae's album "Racine carrée" the most for the past couple of days. Most books that I read pertain to language or linguistics, especially anything that relates to language history or language learning. My recent favorite has been "Babel No More". It's about how polyglots learn their mass of foreign languages. As for movies, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BOLLYWOOD. My girlfriend and I spent our second date watching a Bollywood film. I'm also a big biopic kind of guy. I enjoy comedy and action when I need some mindless relaxation. My favorite film of all time is Forrest Gump. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are also at the top. I don't do a lot of TV (unless it's to improve my foreign languages), but I do watch a lot of shows through online streaming (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon). My favorites are Grey's Anatomy and Merlin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skidding and hopping along the Brunei river by water taxi through the kampong ayer water villages into the verdant rain forests, catching sight of the famous proboscis monkey just moments before a joyful, spirit cleansing and rejuvenating tropical rain. Brunei, I love you. Best experience yet!
Teach, Learn, Share
Anything related to language history, I can teach you. I also give root-beer float making lessons, an awesome american dessert drink. I'm hoping to learn how to cook during my travels; hopefully picking up a few cooking recipes on the way.
