About Me

Hey!

Nice to meet you. My name's Izzy, but of course you already saw that. I'm a fun-loving and bubbly person, and addicted to traveling. I love partying but - if there's not too much temptation around - just as happy to relax and talk or read (preferably with a good glass of red).

At the moment I'm working on an organic vegetable farm in the Blue Mountains, Australia, and before that I lived in Sydney for six months. When I travel I prefer to settle in a spot for some time, to get to know the place and it's people, to make friends and build a life.

I studied cultural anthropology at uni and this has enriched me in so many ways; my perspective on life is always guided by the things I learned. I feel it made me more open minded, and it causes me to always wonder: what does it mean, where does it come from, what is behind it?
I LOVE gaining knowledge, so tell me about your country, your culture and all its riches!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest, in the years since I've been on here I've never hosted nor stayed with someone. I'd love to get into it though. During my travels, I've experienced I always enjoyed visiting a place most when I stayed with or hung out with locals.
In Amsterdam I worked part time as a tour guide, and it made me so happy to be able to show other people the love I feel for my city, and to tell them the history and stories behind the famous canals and façades, to tell people about our culture and at the same time learn about theirs. This is what I would love to give couch surfers, and get in return.

Music, Movies, and Books

I usually don't do it enough, but I LOVE reading. One of my faves is Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer, and of things I've read recently Breath by Tim Winton and The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen.

I like different types of music. Seeing a good (tech)house or disco set honestly fills me with happiness, but I also really enjoy going to classical music concerts.
