Overview
About Me
So my name is Aïscha, I am a 26 year old female living in Groningen, the Netherlands. I am of Moluccan descent (a province in Indonesia). And I grew up in a family where love, music and food are the most important things in life.
I have been studying music for over 6 years now, because my priorities lie within doing what I love to do, which is obviously making music (but not studying), traveling the world, meeting people from all over the world and learning about their culture and enjoying the time with my friends and family.
I have been kickboxing since I was 14, I love watersports especially surfing and kayaking in the sea or rivers. Hiking clears my mind and I like to move myself around the city on my longboard.
I am always keen for adventure, whether it is a spontaneous city trip or road trip, long-term volunteering abroad or wild camping on the beach or in a forest, I am up for it. As long as it includes fun people, good music and great food!
I have lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for four months to start an international network for my Academy.
I have lived and worked in Italy for two summers, as an international volunteer at Lo Spirito del Pianeta indigenous music festival in Chiuduno, Bergamo, Lombardia and at the best hostel in Italy, the Paradise Beach Hostel of Ischia, Napoli, Campania.
In the Netherlands I have worked for several festivals like, Welcome to the Village, Into the Great Wide Open and Op Roakeldais.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Though I am not hosting yet, I did have airbnb guests but experienced it as both connecting with so called strangers and also not connecting with strangers because they reckon that you have only made a business deal.
I always try to be as hospitable as possible, whenever I meet international students or fellow travelers I love to show them around in my city and I offer them a bed at my place and food at my dinner table. That is why I want to try couchsurfing myself first to learn how to be a better host in the future and to meet open minded people and learn from them.
Interests
Like I already said, I am always up for an adventure. I love how wild camping gives me so much energy, the fresh air, beautiful nature and I reckon that food always tastes better outdoors!
I am always interested in other cultures, I love to explore different kinds of food, I am eager to learn new languages and I am very intrigued by indigenous people. I believe that if we all try to understand one another a little bit more, the world would be an even more beautiful place.
I usually bring my travel guitar or ukulele with me on my trips and hope to play music with fellow travelers. Include good food, booze and a campfire and I will have the best time ever!
I love, yes I really love to make dinner for my loved ones, in my opinion it is the best way to express your love! And if the food is good, to receive love.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have a wide range of music taste, I sing jazz, soul and funk, I can listen to blues for hours and I practice mantras. Bossanova has the most relaxing effect on me and Latin music always makes me want to dance.
Seu Jorge, Sticky fingers and G-love and Special Sauce give me summer feelings. Esperanza Spalding is the Bass Queen, Tedeschi Trucks Band gives me the blues, so does Gary Clark Jr. I am mesmerized by Matt Corby. I want Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill to be my best friends. Prince and Stevie Wonder are my heroes.
One of my female vocalist heroes is Lalah Hathaway which I met at an arrangers workshop of the Metropole Orchestra, her vocal range is of alien origin. The same applies to Lisa Fischer who used to tour with the Rolling Stones.
Since I was little I was always intrigued by Stevie Wonder, no wonder, because my parents named me after his daughter Aisha Morris which he dedicated the song "Isn't She Lovely" to. And his voicings and progressions are just out of this world.
Movies by Woody Allen, Wes Anderson and Tim Burton.
Into The Wild and Wild are fuel for my wanderlust. Whenever I see these movies it won't take long before I plan my next trip. The idea of being free and independent is to me the most sincere way of living life, as long as you can share it with your loved ones.
Shutter Island was such a mindf*ck. I couldn't get it out of my mind for days. And of course, Leo.
Tropic Thunder just makes me laugh, even after watching it 7 times. And I have a major crush on Robert Downey Jr.
Iron Man. Ditto.
I don't really read a lot. Mostly informative books about indigenous people and musicians. And I love finding out about the origin of fairy tales.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visiting my relatives on the Maluku Islands, experiencing how they live, receiving their love, experiencing the true meaning of home. The most grateful trip ever.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am passionate about indigenous consciousness, talking about your identity, truly getting to know each other.
I would love to make dinner for my hosts or together with my hosts. Food always bonds.
