About Me

Hi!

I'm Ilona 25 yers old from Finland. Last summer I finished my 5 years of studying dress making and design only to realize that it wasn't for me after all. I worked for a few months to save money, quit my job, packed my bags and hopped on a plane.
I'm life loving, open minded, social and a curios person. My favorite thing is to talk and connect with people and learn about the world through someones stories and experiences.

Currently I'm traveling with my girlfriend so we are looking for couches together if possible. We just finished our working holiday visa in Australia and are coming to Japan in 7.3.
She is very much like I am super social and an amazing person. Shes a master student in international nature conservation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Me and my friends were backpacking in north Vietnam. We were walking outside trying to find the bus to go to a waterfall outside the city and suddenly a car pulled aside next to us. Mom and tow little boys got out of the car and asked politely if we could talk in English with them, we chatted a bit and were about to leave when we just remembered to ask how to get to the falls. The lady smiled and told us that we can go there all together because they'd love to practice English with us and get to know us. We were so surprised because the falls are 80 km from the city, but also super grateful. It turned out to be an amazing day we talked and spent the entire day with the family and in the evening we ate and drunk with the with the lovely lady and her husband.
After my heart felt light. I got to see other culture from up close through basic interaction caused by friendliness and kindness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn who you are and what you think about stuff. I'm also curious what you do for living and how did you get there.
I can teach you how to sew on a fallen button so that it doesn't fall off right away or how to fix other stuff as well. I can also teach you Finnish and how to brew tea perfectly.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking I can definitely cook some Finnish food or my gf can whip up some amazing Italian stuff.
I'm also always up for sharing traveling tips, experiences and stories.
We can have a night out, in , cook play cards, go for hikes or just go for coffee and if you have any ideas I'm most likely game!
