About Me

ABOUT ME

I am 31 years old and passionate about street art in all its forms. I have studied history of art, so always have been really interested in the art scene, exhibitions and galleries. But since street art entered my life this passion is exploding. Street Art completely changed the way how I go through the streets and observe the public space, streets and house walls. It also changed my way of traveling. I like to go to the back streets, the art is leading me and I like to look for graffiti and street art pieces. I even wrote my masters thesis about street and gentrification. So if you ever wanted to know the relation between these phenomenons, just ask :-)

Apart from street art sport is really important for me. As I like a lot of forms, I always alternate: running, yoga, swimming, cycling, climbing. Haven't been climbing or surfing for a while now. Should start doing it more regularly again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I really enjoy the opportunity to meet new people. When I moved to Madrid everythinng started with Couchsurfing and this was the best decision I ever made. I met several friends through this and couldn't be more grateful for all the hospitality that was offered to me. Even though I live in Hamburg today, I am still close friends to the people that I met through Couchsurfing in Spain. Quite often I do couchsurfing without using the website and sleep on the couch of a friend of a friend of friend. Probably that's why I do not have many references, even though I nearly never sleep in hostels. A part from this "blabla meet new people / new friends" stuff... I really like couchsurfing because I do not like the travelbook- travels. I am not really into sightseeing. I prefer sitting hours in a bar watching the people and get an idea of the atmosphere of a city instead. Meeting people that are living where I want to travel is a great opportunity to get an idea of the way how people are living there. What's important for them in their daily lifes, how is life in this city, what's going on there, what did they bring there, which dreams do they have, ... these are questions that I like to explore.

Interests

I am interested in yoga, electronic music (techno, down beat, techno festivals), art, ecological lifestyle, farming, meditation, surfing, traveling, cooking, festivals, beer, crazyness, open-minds, nature, ideas and dreams that broad my mind, experiencing new things, meeting new people, searching the flow.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like electronic music, but as well old-school hiphop, classic-music, but also other stuff.

Books: My favorite authors are Truman Capote (for the mode the expression), John Irving (for laughing a lot), Hermann Hesse (for being a soulmate).

Movies: I think my favorite movie is Fargo. Because it's full of dark humor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling to India. Craziest but most amazing trip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can show you around in your own city and open your eyes for the little art exhibition that is going on in your street, that you haven't been aware of. We can share laughter, we can go dance, drink, eat.

If I stay at somebody else' place, I try not to bother you. That means: I will have my own stuff with me (towels, toothpaste) and I can hang out alone, no worries. I would love to hang out with you, if you like to and if your time allows you to, but if not, I am an independent person. Please do not feel obligated in any way.

When I arrive or the day after I normally bring something to eat and will ask you, if you like to eat dinner with me. Of course I will cook the dinner ;-)
