About Me
CURRENT SITUATION (December, 2016)
Hi, Everybody! Unfortunately, there has been an illness in my family, and I've had to return to Jacksonville, Florida, to take care of this person. Candide is no longer in Washington, D.C. Instead, she's being stored on land in Virginia. I can't have guests in my current situation (and I really, REALLY miss this part of my life! I LOVE my fellow Couchsurfers!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted several people on Candide. They're welcome to stay in the private aft cabin. My boating neighbors often comment on the "weird" people I have visiting. I think at this point, that some of them suspect that I might be "weird," too.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had several people stay on board the boat with me. Only two of them have died...but I was able to dispose of their bodies by dumping them over the side of the boat without anybody noticing. Bwhahahahaha...
Because Candide is a boat, I sail her around from time to time. Right now, she's located in downtown Washington, D.C. I'm about 1 mile from the Washington Monument! I'm a 10 minute bike ride from the Mall...where they keep the Smithsonian Museums (which are FREE, by the way!). So, if you want to visit D.C. let me know!
Interests
I love to travel. I've been to Canada, Mexico, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Scotland, England, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bah Rain, the Bahamas, Cuba, the Best Korea, China, Japan, Slovenia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Guatemala, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Oman, Ukraine, Namibia, Argentina, South Africa, Turkey, Belize, Honduras, Jamaica, US Virgin Islands, Trinidad, Dubai, Jordan, Abu Dhabi, Malaysia, Australia, and possibly other places that I can't recall right now.
I'm often asked which is my "favorite." I'd have to say New Zealand is probably my all-around favorite. I could live there and be quite happy! It would be awesome to sail my couch there one day!

Music, Movies, and Books
I like foreign and independent films, mostly. Have you seen "The Fall" yet? This is an AWESOME movie!!! It was filmed in 23 countries and took 4 years to shoot. The director is English, but he has roots in India. He films commercials for a living, and made this movie while he was on-site for his job around the world. An absolute must-see!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have laid in the sarcophagus of King Cheops inside the Great Pyramid in Egypt. I snagged his wedding ring while I was there (PUH! As if he'll be needing it!).
Teach, Learn, Share
Wanna learn how to sail? I can teach you the most important aspects of sailing! Brightwork! Scrubbing the hull! Painting the mast! Cleaning the bilge! Massaging the Captain's feet! Yes...all of the sailing traditions that have been handed down for thousands of years can be YOURS! I guess I can teach you some of the less-important stuff as well (like setting sails, navigation...you know...the boring "textbook" stuff).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great conversations! I mean, really, really, amazing stories about my life thus far. Am I tooting my own horn? Yes! But, isn't that why this section was added by CouchSurfing to my profile? One thing I can promise...you won't be bored! ;-)
