About Me

I really consider posting my LinkedIn profile.
Well, here it is: https://www.linkedin.com/in/namtranhoang1992
I have a wikipedia userpage also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Namtranhoang1992

I am a ordinary guy trying to do Math or something related to Math for a living.
I plan to be a professor: to know extensively about my passion; and to let other people know about the structure and the beauty of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would prefer couch-surfing than staying at a hotel/motel because of its personal touch — I get to meet and befriended with the host; I can also receive tips about interesting places/things to do around. The meaningful interactions, conversations are what I aim at - not simply a place to pass the night.

Another major reason is the more affordable aspect of couch-surfing: for a usual lone traveler as I am, getting a whole hotel/motel room for myself is quite wasteful.

Postscripts: Somehow when I see the prose, it automatically translates in my head into "In 500 words or less, describe why you are on Couchsurfing. List relevant reasons and details to support your arguments."

Interests

Mathematics.

Music: I play violin, and I love the sound of that delicate instrument dearly. I enjoy classical music, particularly of Paganini, Bach, Haydn, and Saint-Saëns.

Sport: I have been swimming for more than five years. I love water, yet, the relationship is complicated.

Music, Movies, and Books

Camille Saint-Saëns - Danse Macabre
Johann Sebastian Bach - Gavotte en rondeau
Franz Joseph Haydn - Serenade for Strings Op. 3 No. 5
Niccolo Paganini - 24 Caprices

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed my B.A. in Mathematics/Chemistry and M.A. in BioChemistry - I am glad I did that, or else mom & pop would not let me roam around so easily... (the legend of Asian tiger parents is true!)

Teach, Learn, Share

e to the power of i plus one equal zero.

"What is beauty? Is it a measurable fact (Gottfried Leibniz), or merely an opinion (David Hume), or is it a little of each, colored by the immediate state of mind of the observer (Immanuel Kant)?"

"色不異空,空不異色" - 般若心經

“The unexamined life is not worth living.”—Socrates via Plato

"Je pense, donc je suis." - Descartes.

"Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich stärker. - Nietzsche.

"I see, and say nothing" - Queen Elizabeth I.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cannot guarantee anything substantial; nevertheless, it is likely that I will make you laugh and find this world a bit more interesting. I would then consider that a success.

I enjoy cooking and cleaning - I am no Yan-can-cook or Marie Kondo, but given the chance, I would love to cook a decent meal for my host/guest and help them tidy up there place/luggage.
