About Me

"Ubuntu" is definitely one of my favorite words. It comes from an African language and it can be translated as "I am because we are".

Hello everybody! My name is Juan Pablo and I'm from Mexico. I'm 26 years old and I'm about to become a lawyer. I recently decided to quit my job in politics to help others by becoming a volunteer and to travel around the world, and so I will be travelling the next months trough Southeast Asia.

I'm open-minded, very friendly and respectful. I enjoy trying new things and discovering new places. My perfect day is one where I can share tons of laughs.

I was borned in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The land of the tequila and mariachi, considering myself as a proud mexican, but at the same time a world citizen. This means I love sharing my culture with others, as well as learning from their own culture, but at the same time I want to prove that in the end, it doesn't really matter where we come from...we are all in this together.

I am very grateful for the life I was given. I come from a loving family, and I'm the oldest of 4 brothers and sisters.

Life being a big tasteful cake means you cannot have just one piece. That is why I want to start fresh, try new things, meet new people, have adventures. That is why I want to experience volunteering abroad.

I love kids. I think when we grow, we forget the most important things in life, and kids don't. They live at its best, they don't mind what the world would think of them, they are just who they want to be. They sing, they dance and they enjoy freely. We should learn from kids and not the other way back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined The CS community back in 2014 when I did a semester abroad in Barcelona. Then when I came back to Mexico I started to meet up with travellers, giving them tours around my city and helping them with some advices.

I really love the CS experience of getting to know people from other places. I love sharing in general, sharing a meal, a story, sharing laughs, experiences. We came to this world to share with others, so I love the idea of travelling while sharing with locals, cause it gives me an idea of how the place really is. I prefer doing that, instead of just being a random tourist just minding my bussiness.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted 2 times in Barcelona and surfed in Paris and London.
