About Me

I believe I am a light-hearted person and try to enjoy every day as much as I can. I love traveling, helping people and doing Science, and am in the pursuit of finding something that allows me to put the three together! Right now I live in San Diego, California, and am loving the experience of being in such a beautiful place and meeting incredible people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and I don't think there is a better way to experience a new culture than to interact with locals. I'm on couchsurfing because I like the feeling of this community and I appreciate the chance to bond and get to know people from all around the world.

Interests

I really enjoy exploring a new place, hiking, dancing, reading and eating (a lot!). I also love laughing non-stop, being silly and getting to know new people to share interesting conversations and experiences with. I love spending time outdoors, camping, road trips...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I think I'm very old school. I like songs that make you want to stand up and dance, like Mika, Monsieur Periné, George Ezra and Abba. I especially love jazz and dancing Lindy Hop and Swing. I also like classical music: Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Mozart, Bach...z

Books: Unfortunately grad school hasn't been giving me much time to read non-science stuff... But when I can, I really enjoy reading books by Isabel Allende. Other authors I like are Jane Austen, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, J. K. Rowling (I'll never outgrow Harry Potter), Agatha Christie, but there are too many to name!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is hard putting my finger on only one thing, specially because many amazing moments come from small things, like a tight hug or relaxing in a calm place (preferably near the water). But one amazing thing that I really enjoyed was going to the Amazon forest in Brazil. It was something completely different from what I had ever done before.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Portuguese and English, Brazilian culture, the few recipes I know...
I'd love to learn about my hosts' culture, recipes, and anything else they'd like to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am more than happy to share conversations, meals and moments with my host!
