About Me

Hi! I'm a French student in computer science and statistics. I've been good with numbers since childhood, so I'm fated to work with them. Apart from that, I study anything that picks my interest, and I keep an open mind, so you can sometimes find me reading a book about a topic that I had no idea about the day before.

It's hard to describe my personality, because every person might see it differently, so I will try to be accurate without going into details : I am an idealist, I want to do whatever I can to make the world a better place, and unite people without being blocked by the borders of nations, races and religions. I am a dreamer, I have some goals to accomplish and I stay focused on it, no matter how long it may take or how hard it may be. I always keep my calm (except when I lose too much at a video game), because I hate conflict situations. I value friendship greatly, and I take pride in being an enjoyable host. I love to go out and share many activities with my friends, and learn about their passions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It could be a nice way to make friends in my travels! I prefer to stay at some friend's place than in a hotel. When I travel somewhere, I do it because I want to discover a country's culture, cuisine, landscapes and so on ; but also because I like to meet foreign people, who might have a different outlook on life than people I usually spend time with in my homeland. I find it amazing to connect with people from other countries, I found out that it can lead to great friendships, and it's much more enjoyable to go somewhere if you have someone there who can spend time with you, show you around and partake in activities that you and your friend enjoy.

I've hosted and been hosted by a Thai in Sweden a couple of times before subscribing here, it was an amazing experience and convinced me that I should do it many times.

In the specific case of Norway, I have an interest in the language, which I am currently learning. So, I would like to practice my Norwegian a bit with people I meet there.

During most of the year, I live in a small student room, so unfortunately I cannot host anyone, unless you bring a sleeping bag. During summer, I live in a small village near Switzerland and Germany. I could host people, show them around the region, and bring them to those two countries, my favorite thing to do is going to Europa Park in Germany, it's an awesome rollercoaster.

Interests

I love to hang out with my friends, board games, going to cafés, movies, the sea, visiting places or any sort of funny activities.

I used to play video games a lot, but now I don't spend to much time on them. I'm mostly a fan of the SNES/Playstation era, so I like oldies, and I play newer games occasionally.

I'm passionate about reading books, mostly novels. I love classical literature, especially French and Russian. This is one of the best features of my country, I'd say, we have so many amazing writers! I also read science books (astrophysics mostly), philosophy and history. History is such a vast and complex topic, and there is always something to discover about it. If you would like to recommend me a writer from your country, or tell me about some historical facts, you're welcome! I'm a sucker for museums.

Obviously, I like to travel, or I wouldn't be here, right? This world is so vast and amazing that it's hard to make a list of priorities. For now, let's say I'll stick to Europe, because I'm a bit short on money and I cannot go very far.

I love learning about languages and language history. I'm fascinated by the way languages evolve and turn into new ones, by the similarities and differences that exist between them, by the alphabet, sounds and grammar specific to a language. I always find new languages to learn for one reason or another, but I can't learn them all, I must focus. However, I'd be very happy to learn bits of your language if I visit you, whatever it may be.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Make friends! There's nothing better than letting someone new into your life, who can understand you, support you and spend time with you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm trying to learn Norwegian. Det er et vakkert språk, men ikke så lett at lære på egen hånd!

If someone is learning French, I'd be glad to help with my language. I know it is confusing for strangers sometimes.

I love my country. It was born about 1500 years ago, it has a rich and complex history with a great diversity of regional cultures, traces of interaction with other countries, warm seas and breathtaking mountainous landscapes... If you are interested in it, I'd love to share information about it! And I'd love to learn about countries that I visit, so it's great for me if you're a history geek.
