About Me
I'm open and love conversation when it comes naturally. I feel like I could learn something from everyone and every experience.
I want to be on my feet all the time, experiencing new things, but it's been a while since my backpacking days and my studies keep me pretty tied up. I miss the growth and adventures that come with travelling so I would love to meet and host people in Stellenbosch and Cape Town so they can bring the world to me!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOSTING
So far I've hosted 7 people in Namibia, and they've all been really amazing. To invite someone into your home and routine isn't always that easy but every time I've been glad that I did because it's so interesting to hear what other people find fascinating about your lifestyle or country- you don't always realise what you have is unique and special.
I've hosted guests from the following places:
Denmark. Cape Town. Las Vegas. London. San Francisco. Oslo.
SURFING
Places I've been hosted:
Utrecht. Den Haag. Haarlem. Prague. Ceske Budejovice. Budapest (Twice). Dresden. Vienna. Ljubljana. Trieste. Milan. La Spezia. Lucca.
Interests
I'm a biochemistry student, but I enjoy reading and drawing in my spare time. I LOVE being in nature, going to the beach or going on hikes in the mountains. I also love to exercise, especially squash, jogging and gymming. I love horses and riding.
I'm trying to learn German as well as programming at the moment!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music taste varies and covers a significant amount of genres but my heart lies with rock in all its diverse flavours from progressive to classic to alternative and everything inbetween.
Started reading classics 3 years ago and sometimes it feels like I can't get back into contemporary literature. I love reading books written by old (now dead) white men lol. Especially Russian ones.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Taking a gap year for a backpacking trip around Europe on my own fresh out of high school.
I've been told numerous times that that's kind of hardcore, since my home country has a population of 2 million and can be considered very small and underdeveloped, figuring out Europe was a feat!
Teach, Learn, Share
Also, my language Afrikaans, is NOT what you call "African". It is not a language that all Africans speak, it is a language mostly spoken in South Africa and Namibia and it is derived from dutch. Although many races speak it in SA or Namibia, it is primarily associated with the whites as they are known as the Afrikaners.
I get so many people who think Afrikaans is "African", a language everyone in Africa speaks- there's no such thing as african. Africa has so many languages.
Also, try to treat Africa as the continent that it is, not a homogenous country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My need to not let people down and my discomfort with inconveniencing anyone will ensure a easy-going attitude.
Some hosts are busy and don't have time to show someone around or spend a lot of time with them- and I'm totally fine with that and I can assure you that I can keep myself busy and see the sights on my own.
Other hosts want to spend a lot of time with you because they feel that's the point of couchsurfing- which I'm also totally fine with. If you want to do some stuff together then that's great!
I will help with any and all house tasks, and will cook if necessary.
