About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Immerse myself in the ins, outs, abouts, ups, downs, people, places and music of Wellington, NZ!

ABOUT ME

About six months ago, I found myself disillusioned with the hospitality lifestyle and my current circumstances. So I bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand with the hopes of rebooting. The time flew by and here I am, with no plans to return until April 2014. While this is my first time travelling solo (and internationally), I've learned a lot about myself and other people from playing in bands, living in a share house, and volunteering at music festivals (my favourite recreational pastime). I value company, but I also love to explore places independently, and happen upon situations. I've learned the classical harp for fifteen years, but right now I'm focussing on making music communally, as it comes around. I'm curious about new people, places and traditions. I'm very excited to uproot myself for the first time, and I can't wait to find out all about New Zealand.

PHILOSOPHY

I do believe that people are silly, and funny, and endlessly interesting. I do believe that music is an unforced, inevitable side-effect of the human condition. I do believe it's easy to be kind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't officially hosted for couchsurfing before, but when I get back to Melbourne, I'll be setting up a new household which ideally will have a spare space for tired travellers. We often had visitors crash at our old house and it was always a fun experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have played the entire ballet of Daphnis et Chloe (Ravel) as principal harpist, and it was the single greatest achievement of my musical life so far. (Have a listen to the Suite for an indication of how beautiful that piece is)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the harp, if you have a harp! I'm officially a musician, according to my academic transcript. I love music theory and history, and obsessed over it for a good few years, so if you need to brush up on any aspect of head music, I'm your gal. I can also teach you how to brew the best possible coffee at home, and which beans to buy. I cut my own hair, and I could cut yours as well if you wanted!
