About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To move to Glasgow via a nice few weeks of woofing, and get to know some nice arty folk

ABOUT ME

I'm an artist - digital, paint, sculpture, makin stuff, drawing, ALL art, made a piece recently on a reccy to Glasgow at GOMA as part of their exhibition. Love music. I moved out of Bristol after 8 years last year (redundancy yay!), also passed my motorbike license (I was so close to getting a Harley - (redundancy yay!). Since then being doing bits of freelance graphic design, went off to Thailand for a couple of months, and now moving up to Glasgow, looks like a great place to be, recently visited Kelvingrove, Hunterean, Loch Lomond int he mist (beautiful), Macintosh House, The grosvenor. Also love theatre, have never been to see a live orchestra, ballet or opera but up for all of those as well as loving folk music. Last night saw Steeleye Span's Peter Knight's Gigspanner, very nice. Off woofin at Kilbryde Castle end of the month then get a job and house and stuff.

PHILOSOPHY

Keep calm, open minded and understanding of other people's wonderful individuality. Try and be inspiring as much as possible. Look after the earth, look after friends and family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Visiting galleries, collaborating on art projects, gigs, swanning around and drinking coffee and eating cake, keeping fit. Would like to get back into yoga and join a fencing club.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. First airbnb a couple of weeks ago trying on Glasgow for size. Was brilliant! Staying off Bryers road with an ace couple.

Interests

Art (it's a biggie, my life in fact, without hopefully sounding pretentious), music, books (Ballard is King, Clockwork orange, Fear and Loathing, Burroughs, The beats in general, Keraouac, Bellows, The Education of Little Tree - Favourite book is The Age of Wire and String by Ben Marcus), getting into the countryside. Motorbikes - mainly staring longingly at ratty choppers that I can't afford on ebay at the minute.

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: David Lynch, Peter Greenaway, Wong Kar Wai / Music: Folk, Blues, Alt Country, guitary stuff mainly but also jazz - Courtney Pine, Ella, Billie, Armstrong, really open to loads of stuff, Funki Porcini etc. / Books - see interests.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thailand: Zipwiring through the jungle on Christmas Day, Scootering around Mae Ping National park on my own in the sun, 1200 steps up a mountain to a Temple near Krabbi... plenty of stuff in Thailand. Norway: Meeting friends there, again the scnery would like to go back and hire a boat for the islands around Bergen, Christoffer's 70s polaroid camera. Lincolnshire: The skies!, the skies - I love a good sunset. Rainbows - Call me a hippy if you like but I just think they're absolutely amazing! I once saw clusters of baby spiders in a hedge in Horncastle and I still have never found out what they were, I couldn't tell what they were, nature is incredible. Woofing near Bath last year, loved it, lots of nice people, working outside, alternative living, finding out about Permaculture. A HUGE Black painting the size of a house I saw once in Manchester but that I have never been able to find a reference to. Glasgow Architecture. My nephews. My bros. My Family. My Friends. Stopped drinking, smoking and taking drugs.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be more than happy to teach you how to: Make your own sketchbooks (Bookbinding), Make a cigarbox guitar, Learn some of the Adobe Creative Suite including illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, make and get you using Wordpress Websites for personal or business use, Teach you stuff about Branding and Design Ideas, Draw your portrait. A passion of mine is that EVERYONE IS AN ARTIST. You may not think so but it's all about inspiration and finding art that you can do. Would love the opportunity to get anyone into art. Mix tapes (haha, remember those? Would love to sit around and share and chat about music). Photography inspiration.
