About Me
I finally decided to take a long needed break from university and go travelling. That's pretty much the only thing happening right now :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There are fairly few things I dislike more than being a tourist instead of a traveler. To me, experiencing a culture or a counrty always means getting to know the people and how they actually live their daily lives. Do I want to visit famous landmarks and tourist attractions when I go some place new? Of course. But what I found always makes a lasting impact and what I will remember from a trip is the encounters and the non-polished things. As anl introvert, it can be hard for me to "just randomly" meet people, but connecting through something like Couchsurfing is always a rewarding experience. This of course goes both ways :)
Interests
Though I decided to pursue a scientific/engineering career, my passion for languages, books and stories is what I think truly drives me. Don't get me wrong, I love being a scientist and revel in the marvelous way the universe works, and I do believe in making the world a better one through science. But if I was ever forced to give up either my passion about microbiology or literature, that would still be a no brainer. A lot of people always seem to think that science and art contradict each other or a mutually exclusive; that science is the rigid analysing of facts and findings and art is a chaotic outburst of creativity; but I find them both to be an excellent way of shaping new things into being and expressing yourself, albeit the tools may be very different. In my opinion, there is no science without creativity, and there is no art without reflecting on the already existing things around you.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm definitley a person who rather sees the same movie ten times than ten different ones; as a consequence, the number of movies I actually watched is rather small. But if you want to talk about the Matrix, Twelve Angry Men or Spirited Away, this is your lucky day :)
With books I am fairly more hungry, but mostly stick to fantasy and Sci-Fi. I could do some name dropping like Gaiman, Asimov and Rothfuss, but I won't.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 10th grade a friend and me won a contest by shooting a trailer to a movie that proved why it is still essential today ti learn ancient greek.
