I think couchsurfing is a great way to have anew experience while traveling and to learn about different cultures and languages, which are two of my main interests. I did the Inca trek to Machu Picchu in Peru
I hiked to the top of Mount Roraima in Venezuela (the mountain from the children's movie Up)
I lived in a orphanage home in India
