About Me
I'm 24 years old, studying Arabic at the university and living in a shared flat in Aarhus, Denmark.
I cherish people who laugh a lot, local food, weekends and old books. I love to do yoga, cook, knit and mix Spanish drinks.
Nikolaj, my boyfrind, who I'm travelling with at the moment, is 24 as well, and just earned his bachelor degree in architecture and is working part time for an architect company in Aarhus. He can fix your bike, lamp, arm chair or draw you a nice house!
At the moment we're living in Bethlehem, Palestine. I do field work for my university paper and take arabic language courses. Nikolaj is doing architectual drawings and photographing for a small project at home and whenever we have time we travel around the West Bank to see more of Palestine.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's been a while since I've used CS. A couple of years ago I travelled around Europe on my own using CS whenever I could. It was such a good experience and I've always wanted to do it againg. I met the nicest people who opened their home to me - sometimes just for a night, sometimes for several days. Felt quite lucky and I am still in contact with a few of them from time to time.
This November, Nikolaj and I are travelling to Iran and we hope to be able to use CS as much as possible!
Last summer we travelled Jordan by car and visited Istanbul in the autumn, and we are looking so much forward to experiencing more of the Middle East this year.
Interests
Languages, cooking, yoga, knitting, reading, podcasts,
Nikolaj:
We both have a general interest in the Middle East. Whether it is culture, history, architecture, people, food, language, politics or religion.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a variety of podcasts whenever I'm on the go - otherwise, whatever fits the mood and situation.
After starting university I basically only read what my professors tell me to. May sound a bit boring; sometimes it is - generally it's not!
Teach, Learn, Share
What is amazing about CS is the things you learn on the way. I've been invited to a tiny local talent show hosted in a language I didn't understand, been taken to peoples favourite burger bars and had guided tours around the city. Of course you can look things up in your Lonely Planet guide, or whatever, and this is so nice too - but sometimes the best experiences you get are when you talk to a local who really knows stuff!
I myself have only hosted a couple of times when I lived in Berlin, through CS or through common friends.
I sooo appreciate the time people spend on being a good host! It means the world and I hope that I can be on 'the hosting side' again sometime.
