I'm Ciarán, which is usually enough of an 'about me' to tell the whole story but I suppose most of you haven't met me yet. I'm modest and likeable yet opinionated and also reasonable.

If you're forthcoming with thoughts about anything we'll have, at the very least, an interesting conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To expose myself to all the wonderful cultures of language, community, art, conversation, food, music and whatever else you all have to offer.

I often operate within my safe zone and don't do enough of what I really love for some strange fear of, well, I don't quite know.

I do know I'm in Lyon this week and want to experience as much as possible before I take in Nuits Sonores.

Interests

I want to fill this box with a flurry of activities and pass times but I've got tunnel vision and all I can see is food. I love to cook so by default I love to eat. For that reason I've recently started to grow my own food having dug some beds and potted some seeds.

I've been spotted on the roads of Glasgow running to try and counteract the effect of my eating habits but you're more likely to find me at some three day party locked in a debate or a drunken stooper.

Music, Movies, and Books

The fact I'm going to NS would suggest I'm a fan of electronic music, which is largely correct. I listen to a range of house and techno. I wouldn't call myself an expert but I know what I like, including the likes of Barnt, George Fitzgerald, Art Department, Caribou, Jamie XX, amongst a plethora of others.

I'm a bit of a movie buff. I watch loads of world cinema but not as much in recent months. Films like Jean De Florette, The Hunt, Come And See, Little White Lies are pretty representative of my inclinations.

I'm not an avid reader for one reason or another but my all time favourite book is Junky by Bill Burroughs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm a fairly modest person and also fairly unfulfilled so to fill this box with anything other than these words would damage my integrity in unspeakable ways.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm fairly competent with a great many cooking techniques. I like to get my hands dirty as well as get a sweat on and I hate to sit around watching anyone else do work I could be helping with.

I'm comical too but only after a mutual level of understanding has been achieved. You have been warned.
