About Me
Hello! My name is Leonardo ( Leo :D ) and I'm twenty one years old. I think that a good way to introduce myself is to tell about my history. I was born in a small town between the two greatest citys of Brazil: Sao Paulo e Rio de Janeiro. My family had a Fishing lodge, where I was able to have an awesome childhood. My father passed away when I was 3 years old. I was raised by my mother and my grandmother. And this Fishing lodge turned out to be an resort today. So, my mother not only got over my father`s death. She, with the help of my stepfather, also builded this company and raised me so well that I joined the best university of Brazil ( UNICAMP ) and today I am a exchange student in Germany funded by Brazilian Government.
Joining UNICAMP gave me more than I could have ever imagined. First of all I had to leave behind the comfort of my home and to live by myself. Since students come from all over the country to study at the university, I started to have contact with all kind of people and different cultures as well. I have always believed that everybody you meet has something to add to you, and over these three years I have tried to take the most and the best of those people could offer to me. As a result, my vision of the world changed a lot, as well as my position in relation to it.
I belive today that we are shaped all the time by what occupies our mind. That makes me always try to think in a smart way, not wasting my potential with unpleasant and unuseful thoughts. I also believe in the reflex and refraction of our actions in the society. When you are kind to people, they tend to be more kind to you and to others. When you are rude to people, they tend to be more rude to you and to others. That makes me treat people the way I want to be treated. As Jesus ( or who came up with the bible ) sad: “TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WANT THEN TO TREAT YOU!”
In the beginning of 2014 I had the opportunity to travel by myself for the first time. I spent a week in a very nice beach of Brazil with some friends. I think that it was a huge opportunity to discover the amount of life that I have. After this trip, I really felt more alive and happy. I remember something that I loved to say that time: ¨BE YOUR ESSENCE¨. And the motto was ¨JUST LET IT GO¨.
Then, in july of 2014, I had the opportunity to do a bigger trip. I went out for a 35 days backpacking trip around South America with one of my masters, a older guy that had already backpacked through Europe, and his friend. It was amazing, I could not believe in the places, the adventures and the people I met. I had the intention to travel a little bit by my own during this trip. And after traveling through Bolivia, Peru and Chile for 30 days, I managed to get a job in Santiago, Chile. And then I extended my trip to 60 days. I was living in a hostel and earning my own money for the first time. When I came back to Brazil, all that I had in my mind was: I CAN'T SETTLE DOWN. I WANT TO KEEP LIVING INTENSIVELY!
So, when I returned, I stopped spending my time with unuseful things, I did my best to help my mother to improve our company and I studied German insanely so then I be approved for this exchange program that I am now living.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because its pure math, and 15 is my lucky number!
1 - Everything in life is experimentation, so more experiences, more wisdom.
2 - Discover things of a different culture makes you value better the good points of your culture, and also absorb the good points of the new one.
3 - In hostels and hotels everyone have a bed, but no one is home. When people share a home, there is a much more intense contact.
4 - Each person lived several unique experiences. And the cost of an experience is high. Meet people allows to absorb the lessons learned at a much lower cost.
5 - The tendency is that people who submit to couchsurfing know very well the value of the exchange of experiences.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 = A experience that you get to know another culture in intense contact with people that are more likely to add = 15 = Couchsurfing!

I like movies, but not enought to talk about then.
I´m not used to read books, but I think that its a really great way to improve knowledge. I´m reading a really good one now: The codes of intelligence, from Augusto Cury.
