About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The best things in life aren't things.

ABOUT ME

I thought it would be easier to fill this profile, but i must admit: There's so much to say that I just don't know where to begin..

Well, I was born at Minas Gerais, but I've moved to Brasília - DF when I was about 10 years Old, and ever since, I completely fell in love with this city.

Before studying Gastronomy, I was at the Law school for 2 years and a half. Nowadays I work at a really nice restaurant called Carpe Diem, and I'm about to graduate (On december 2009).

After it, I intend to travel, and I'm starting to plan it as soon as possible! (:

PHILOSOPHY

* I think that life is a constant apprenticeship, and I try to live it intensely. I don't think that people should say "I'm too Old/Young to do this/that." Every moment is a good moment to try something new and to try to understand different points of view about life. (Well, we certainly don't have to agree with everything, but I think that trying to understand is the least we could do, right?)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just begin to make part of it, but I'm really excited about making part of this wonderful project! I think that the CS2 is a simple and inteligent way to make people understand how important is to get to know other cultures and other countries.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never used the website before, but I intend to start doing it after my graduation in December 2009. 'Till there, I was thinking about receiving some people at my house.

Interests

* Gastronomy (Studying it, discussing it, finding new types of food, spicery in general, and discoverying people's food preferences around the world, of course.)
* Traveling (I just love to find out new places that aren't just touristic, but that are also important for local people in other ways) ;
* Music;
* Movies;
* Literature;
* Different Cultures;
* Interesting stories about other cultures (of course, hehe!)

Music, Movies, and Books

* Movies: I'm such a big fan of cinema, but mostly about old/black and white movies. Generally, I like to watch Romantic Comedies, Thrillers, Epics... (From "Pride and Prejudice" (that Is actually one of my favorite movies) to "Harry Potter" (C'mon, guys! Don't recriminate me for that. It's a cute story.), you can count on me to watch with you!)).
Last but not least, I'm such a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn. She wasn't just an actress in fancy clothes, but a very talented woman that has always been on the forefront, engaged in social causes. My bedroom is kind of inspired on "Breakfast at Tiffany's", with lots of posters and a classic decoration. :)

* Music: First of all, I think you guys should know that I have about 240 hours/10 days of music files in my PC. I'm a very ecletic person, and I'm always looking for new bands (So, this way I force myself to not stay on musical nostalgy.) I love to talk about it and to discovering/introducing people to new nacional/internacional bands and singers.
I just Love Jazz! All types of it. I listen to Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, Etta James, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald... I'm also very enthusiastic about new Jazz artists. (Yes, I'm still waiting for the day that Jamie Cullum will ask me to marrie him. LOL :-])

* Books: Obviously because of my work, I'm always buying books related to Gastronomy/Cookery. But I also like some literature, specially romances/fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing thing done:

* I've walked through Scotch forests on a snowy day. That was almost a movie scene!
* I've made a rally and watched the sunset on the top of the sandhills at the Jalapão Desert - TO. Amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: What can I say? I think I can teach people about cooking, about Brazilian culture, music and people.

Learn: There are so many things! I'm always interested in learning about food, of course. New recipees are REALLY welcome.

Share: I just traveled to other country one time. I lived in UK in 2005 for a few months and I got some experiences to share. I also wanted to know about people's experience in other countries, so this way I can understand a little more about other places before going there.
(However, I've traveled a lot in Brazil, so I can give some tips about great places to go! :-])
