About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the people and places of the earth.
ABOUT ME
I guess I am seeking to find the inherent meaning in life, and realising that I find more meaning in a sunset or an important conversation than I ever could in a material thing, my life, some years ago, became one of full time travel.
I love to hike, to spend in nature. I’m minimalist, meaning I don’t seek to own possessions, only to be enriched by the world around me. I like to move from place to place, and don’t think I’ll ever really settle, whatever it is that means anyway!
I’ve been so enriched by this app over the years, and I use couchsurfing to make friends. If there are eight billion people in the world, give or take, I’m pretty sure that even if we can only manage to meet 0.0000001% of these people, our lives will be more nuanced and happier through these meetings. While I have hosted, I can’t anymore now that I’m not living in one place and travelling a lot.
While I love to move from place to place, I also love to travel on foot and am a big lover of thru hiking. I have (so far) walked the entire length of Britain (lejog), five different routes along the Caminos de Santiago, two long distance hikes through Switzerland, two through Italy, and even a bit of hiking in Russia.
My other great love is writing, and usually, I write and walk at the same time. I write about my travels, the people I meet, the things I see. Every walk and trip I have taken, the people along the way have become a great part of the story. And so I am looking forward to connecting with many other humans, and those who have a similar rambling attitude to life!
Please find me @daniellemariehurren to read some of the adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couch surfing because I believe that there is more than one cultural truth in the world and I do not want my worldview or cultural understanding to be limited to the one single spot of the globe I grew up in. Travel is liberating, it liberates us from believing the customs of one single location are universal or have any real relevance beyond the borders of that place. The earth teaches us, and so all the places I go to and faces I see are teachers and books.
Look forward to hearing from you humans!
Interests
I love nature, music, literature, travelling, food, writing, cinema, philosophy, politics. I eat a plant-based-diet and am always interested in checking out the whole foods restaurants in any place that I travel to.
