About Me

Ahoy! I live a slightly “off-script” life… somewhere between the sea, the wind, and a toolbox.

For the past 5 years, my home has been a small sailboat that I share with my boyfriend. We left Canada and zigzag our way around. We move slowly, follow the seasons, fix what breaks (often!), and try to live simply and intentionally. I chose voluntary simplicity — which means I’m not rich in money, often dealing with disconfort and harsh conditions, but I chose to be rich in time, freedom, stories, wilderness, human connections...I embrace evey struggle and feel really fortunate!

I love nature deeply (I am a biologist!). I can get genuinely excited about little things: a sunset, a cute hermit crab, a hot shower or a perfectly improvised plan. I’m easygoing, respectful, organized when needed… but I strongly believe the best moments are the ones you didn’t plan at all.

I spend a lot of time learning how to do things myself: repairing, transforming, fishing, foraging when possible… and giving my time back to the people who help us along the way. I truly believe that what connects us as humans are the things you cannot put a price on. And I apply this to the sea, always thankfull for the pleintyfull life that the sea allows me to leave by picking up beach trash as often and as much as I can, I call it my free crossfit sessions (yep, you should see the big piles sometimes!)

Also — fair warning — I have an endless supply of old sailor stories!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don’t use Couchsurfing a lot, because I usually try to manage with my little floating home and my own resources. But sometimes, life gives you a beautiful reason to ask for help.

On May 5th, I will turn 40… and so will one of my closest friends from Canada — on the exact same day. She’s coming to Italy with her little family cell, and I would love (really love) to surprise her by meeting her in Rome when she arrives and then follow her to Castellammare di Stabia and then in Conversano.

Right now, my tiny home (the boat!) is in Brindisi, and getting to do this land travel is a bit of a challenge with my current means. So here I am, stepping out of my usual independence, trusting the kindness of strangers — who often don’t stay strangers for long.

If you feel like sharing a space, a moment, a conversation, or a laugh, I would be deeply grateful. And of course, I’ll happily share stories, help with anything I can, cook something simple, or just bring good energy into your home.

Because in the end, I believe we’re all connected — especially through the small, meaningful things.

Hope to meet you along the way!

Interests

I’m endlessly curious — the kind of person who is always up to try anything (and probably look ridiculous doing it the first time :P) and understand how things work and try to sense how people think: the mix with heritate culture, personal indivual experiences (and trauma), brain connexion (or malfunctions!) and randomness! I respect and welcome everyone's differences.

I’m drawn to anything that makes me feel alive, humble, and connected — whether it’s the ocean, the mountains, a deep conversation with a stranger or some live music (from heavy metal to reggae, from folk to electro, and many things in between!).

I love being outdoors and moving: snorkeling, rock and ice climbing, hiking, whitewater kayaking and canoeing… if it involves nature and a bit of adventure, I’m usually in. I enjoy both ends of the spectrum — from slow, grounding yoga sessions to more intense bursts like boxing or a playing football.

I’m also very interested in environmental causes — the state of the world genuinely concerns me. Patcha mama, mother earth, Gaia, whatever you call it, we have only one planet, we should cherish it. Even if I live a bit with a foot out of the system, I stay informed about politics and geopolitics, trying to understand the bigger picture while navigating my own small, alternative path.

People, cultures, and history fascinate me. I love discovering different ways of living and thinking — it’s what keeps me open and constantly learning. I also speak a few Latin languages - which sounds more impressive than it is - and love the poetry of words (even though I am a poor writer myself!).

I enjoy creating with my hands too: a bit of art, a bit of craft, fixing, building… finding beauty and usefulness in simple things (or should I say trash :P).

In short: I follow what makes me vibrate — nature, human connections, stories, movement, and all the little things that remind us how rich life already is.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I may not arrive with much, but I never come empty-handed.

I’m always happy to help around the, house — cleaning, organizing, or even taking on small projects like painting a wall or fixing things. I’m quite handy and can maybe troubleshoot basic electrical issues (as long as there’s a multimeter somewhere in the house!).

I also love to cook — give me a few random ingredients and I’ll happily improvise something delicious to share. And cooking in a real kitchen, without having the pans to try to attack you while sailing in strong weather (acrobatic cooking I like to call it :P) will be a breaze for me !

More than anything, I bring my time, my energy, and my willingness to contribute in a meaningful way. I enjoy exchanging stories, sharing moments, and creating a warm, easygoing atmosphere. My ear (and my heart) is wide open.

And before I leave, I like to leave a small trace behind — maybe a little drawing, or a handmade piece of jewelry made from sea glass… something simple, but made with care.

Because for me, hospitality is not a transaction — it’s a human exchange.
