I am a young Czech musician - music artist and teacher, to be precise. Though I often tend to be lazy and introverted, I like to think of myself as an easy-going and optimistic person who likes getting to new places, meeting new people and learning from them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had some bad luck during a trip to Scotland in summer 2014 and a last minute discovery of CS saved me - allowed me to change plans and stay longer, at unexpected places, with great people. In 2015 I surfed with friends - a 4-piece busking band - in Netherlands and had a wonderful time. I generally prefer systems based on reviews and CS is no exception to that. It's a brilliant, adventurous way to travel and a guaranteed pass to some amazing experience.

Interests

Music - to listen to, to enjoy, to play, to create, to share - that is and always will be the greatest passion of my life. I play the clarinet, saxophone, guitar, somewhat less the piano, drums, melody horn - basically I love to grab any musical instrument that's in reach. Being a classically trained clarinetist in Prague - the beloved city of Mozart, Smetana and Dvořák - I play mostly in symphony orchestras and teach, but also cannot live without playing gigs with bands - from swing to original jazz/pop stuff. I like to jam, improvise, compose a bit, have fun with music. Apart from music, I also love photography, coffee, traveling, eating out, cycling, swimming, going to movies and watching TV series.

Music: Some of my absolute favourites are Kings of Convenience, Fink, Ben Howard, Bonobo, Snarky Puppy, Knower, Jack White, Deluxe, Alabama Shakes, Paolo Nutini, Sting, John Mayer, Daughter, Zrní, Lenka Dusilová, Clarinet Factory, Michael Brecker, U2, R.E.M., Oasis, Jamie Cullum... I also love the 20th century classical music - Shostakovich, Poulenc, Vaughan Williams, Mahler etc.

Books: Velinsky - Dzwille, Bulgakov - The Master and Margarita, Formanek - The Man with Breasts and the Story Thief, Smid - Cejch

Movies by Tarantino, Forman.. Mostly I like independent films, the big blockbusters not as much.

TV: British sketch comedy rules (Monty Python, Fry and Laurie, Mitchell and Webb), I also like Californication, Sherlock, Archer, Rick and Morty, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I became a musician. Through some seriously meandering side tracks, it was somehow always my way. And I love my life, I'm a really lucky person.
