About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Work Save Travel (repeat)
Fresh from a whirlwind year of exploration in Southeast Asia, I have landed in Sydney, and am already planning my next adventure. Where to next?
ABOUT ME
My name is Aoife, pronounced ee-fah (confusing I know!!). In Gaelic legend Aoife was a wicked warrior princess who turned her children into swans, but I can't claim to be nearly as exciting!
As the name suggests, I am Irish, and a native of the beautiful southern city of Cork. I am passionate about art, photography, film, music (you might even catch me giving a dodgy rendition on the ukulele!!), reading, cooking, my friends and, like most Corkonians, my city!
My job, well, let's just say that I am an artist with a day job! I have been lucky enough to work on various film and theatre projects throughout Ireland and in London, doing anything from dressing wigs to making props, as well as working with artists in the National Sculpture Factory in Cork. My background is in design for film and theatre, but I've been having fun exploring other creative avenues since finishing my degree in 2013.
I love to travel and explore new places, cultures and people. Experiencing life in a way that is different to anything you know from your own is such an important mindfulness to have. I believe that this is what interactions with people from all walks of life can bring. And I'll look forward to sharing that sweet reason with you! :)
PHILOSOPHY
Live life in the present moment
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While my CS profile is new, I am no stranger to the CouchSurfing community, and my boyfriend has been hosting people for a long time in Cork (over 100 people the last time I checked!). Through this I have been lucky enough to be able to get involved and share my city or my place, a meal or a story, sometimes just a moment, with somebody that I would have never been able to meet in my daily life, and I have been able to experience the value of CouchSurfing as a worldwide community of, usually, like-minded people!
Being able to welcome a passer-by into the culture of a place, your culture and your life, is something so easy to give, but invaluable. The exchanging of stories and lives is a great pleasure... Just how it should be!
So I thought it was about time to make myself an official part of this great community of sharing and openness! I already know that it's going to be great!

Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make stuff... I'm pretty good with my hands! I love to cook, so I might be able to lend you a recipe or two too.
I won't be able to teach you how to play the ukulele as I don't know how, but anyone is welcome to teach me!!
