Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Jazz, classical and all kind of traditional music, currently I'm listening a lot of Yoruba music
Movies : Half of a yellow sun, The Hours, A touch of sin, Das Weisse Band, Caché (Haneke), The Deer Hunter, A streetcar named desire, Hawking, 12 Angry Men...
Books : unending list. I'm currently very interested in African literature (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chinua Achebe, Fatou Diome, Ben Okri, Mariama Bâ...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did my master's thesis about night in Johannesburg and roamed the streets of inner city Joburg at night for three months without any noticeable bad encounter and with tremendous memories. Challenging my prejudices and others is great.

I've also immersed myself in vaudou culture in Benin, the country my parents come from, and I loved it. It's such a rich culture, and I experienced many interesting activities and rites. Since then, I'm very fond of vaudou music, dance and culture in general, but also in how it circulated throughout the world, linking african diasporas to the continent in a unique way.

Teach, Learn, Share

A great sharing experience I'm experiencing right now (june - july 2015) is being a volunteer at a refugee camp at Pajol, in Paris. It's not about charity, it's about meeting people that are constantly presented in the medias as numbers, and discovering them as people with names, history, opinions, dreams... I'm teaching them French and they're teaching me sudanese arabic.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Benin, Egypt, England, Germany, Poland, Portugal, South Africa

Countries I’ve Lived In
