--
I was born by the Giants Stadium back in '87. It was eight in the morning. (Perhaps that's why I am a morning person.)
Jersey City is my home. It taught me everything I know. It taught me how to be tough. It conditioned me into learning the meaning of accountability--how to keep your bikes from getting stolen and to always walk a girl home when it's too late at night (we were all too young to drive at the time).
I spent nine years living in the island nation of the Philippines. I was surrounded by an environment that was foreign to the element of danger. I learned what it was like to be surrounded by wealthy citizens. When I returned to Jersey City, I was able to appreciate simplicity and admire the work ethic of my financially struggling friends. Wealth without struggle equates to boredom. To spend a week with the people of poverty showed me that simplicity breeds joy. Faith, hope, and love are what keep me going. And coffee. I love a cup of Sumatra pour-overs and a morning read. That is the best form of simplicity that I can get in a technological, rambunctious world.
I am in the US Army National Guard and I am proud to be a part of a great longstanding tradition. Like my grandfathers before me, I wish to pledge my service as I commence my desire to work and eventually start my own coffee shop.
But for now, let me finish grad school and meet lots of great people (like you) along the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, a good travel experience must include meeting great people. I enjoy learning about other cultures and listening to stories of other people. I travel to other places with interests in food, coffee shops, and social culture.
Interests
Coffees, cappuccinos, and eggplant parmesan. I enjoy learning about locals and "debunking" certain stereotypes about people of given country. Contrary to American stereotyping, the French are very nice people!!!

Music, Movies, and Books
If you were in my car, you would believe that you're living inside a synthesizer! CHVRCHES is my favorite band. I also enjoy classical music (I watch the New York Philharmonic almost 4x/year).
I enjoy classic movies, especially North by Northwest, Shawshank Redemption, and other cool dramas. Downton Abbey is SUPER.
My favorite books are "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and "The Count of Monte Cristo"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ran a marathon at age 17, I voluntarily entered a tear gas chamber, and was able to see Stephen Colbert live for five times within three months.
I am also an experienced dog walker in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I studied Human Resource Management at Rutgers University for six years.
Teach, Learn, Share
Don't leave milk inside your car during the summer. You'll have a bad time.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I share my business acumen with regards to hiring people. I enjoy talking about different cultures. I can also train people about mentorship practices!
