About Me

Hello everyone! I'm Sofia, I'm 21 and I'm doing my best to explore and learn as much as possible while at university, together with my 'taccuino' (Italian and much cooler word for 'notebook') and (whenever possible) some friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm hoping to meet up some people to share the experience of travelling with, or locals with whom to discover the culture and soul of different places.

Interests

I'm a passionate reader (currently going through Russian masterpieces while getting ready to spend the Summer in Saint Petersburg), but I also love portraying things and people I run into, as well as drawing and writing short stories. I love singing and making up small songs that end up sticking to my friends' and family's minds. Also, I wanted to be a plane pilot for my entire life (and I made up a lovely pilot-song to remind it to everyone...).

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite types of music are forever changing: I had a long interest in pop-rock/alternative/punk music (from the Beatles to the Smashing Pumpkins and Siouxsie and the Banshees), although at the moment I favour in classical music (Dvorak's 'New World Symphony' winning among all the others) and Italian indie music.

In terms of movies I'm fairly eclectic: the only thing I know is that simply going to the cinema makes me incredibly happy, so I end up watching a variety of more or less sophisticated movies. Last time I went to the cinema, I watched the Italian movie 'Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot,' a caricatural movie about an Italian super-hero; previously, I had watched a documentary called 'Return to Spoon River,' based on Edgar Lee Masters' 'Spoon River Anthology.'

Finally, books: my mom worked in a Library, and I'm writing this from a Library, so books have always had a central role in my life. As for movies, I am an enthusiastic and open reader: my most recent readings include Bulgakov's 'Master and Margarita' and Dostoevskij's 'Tales from Underground,' althoug my favourite book is perhaps David Foster Wallace's 'Broom of the System.'

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...Well, does failing my driving licence exam seven times count as one thing?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can definetly share everything I know, and my enthusiasm about learning anything I don't know yet. I try to be helpful wherever I go, so, if anything else, I could definetly help doing the dishes!
