My name is Lotars Zarins and I’m from country called Latvia which isn’t very large in it’s territory but is in our Latvian hearts. If you take a look in a map you can see that Latvia is located in the middle of Baltic States and right next to the Baltic Sea. Despite the fact Latvia is quite small country there are plenty things to see and do (we have widest waterfall in Europe, some people say we are the best hockey fans in the world and many other things). I love travelling because it is great opportunity to get to know people from other cultures which brings us unforgettable experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For me Couchsurfing is a great way to get to know country because there is no better way to do that than meeting locals. I’m looking forward to my first CS experience and I believe it will be great.

Interests

A lot of my free time is spent on doing sports. My favourite sport is ice hockey and I’ve been playing it about eight years already. My goal isn’t to become paid hockey player because I’m not doing it for money. In my opinion, playing hockey can be compared with travelling because it is good to plan some further steps, you never know what’s waiting for you and it can change your life for a lifetime.

I’ve got many other interests such as photography, other sport activities(swimming, running, cycling...), making videos. I love to accept new challenges and live this life as it’s the only one.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my biggest life goals is to become a journalist. In order to achive that some years ago I created my own blog called "Hokeja Blogs" (Hockey Blog). I share my thoughts with my readers by interviewing hockey players, taking photos of games and filming video reviews of them.

At the same time I work in television called "Vidzemes TV". My biggest honor was to interview Latvian president Andris Berzins.
