About Me
A wannabe hedonist, looking for his place in the world while trying to not take anything too seriously.
I'm an open minded and spontaneous guy, hungry for life, always eager to learn something new, constantly trying to become a better person.
For example, I'm working on being in the present moment and enjoying it more. Also, I'm trying to figure out what I would need for a happy life. I think I've reduced it to four things (good friends, good food, good sex, good weather), but I'm happy to discuss other viewpoints. ;)
A few months ago I moved to Cologne for work, and I love this city. However, I can't get used to the idea of spending the next 30 years in an office, so I'm currently planning to quit and travel the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After using this platform mainly for meeting people when travelling, I'm now very enthusiastic about hosting travellers.
I very much enjoy sharing my time, my home, my kitchen, food, experiences, and ideas because I believe meeting people from all over the world is the next best thing to travelling yourself. The added benefit is building connections to people from all over the world and getting tips and help for my future travels.
Finally, there's also a political/philosophical reason for my investment: since we're living in a world in which everything becomes commodified and gets a price tag, I want to support this niche where free sharing is still practiced.
Interests
My top priorities at the moment are learning surfing, salsa dancing, and Spanish.
In addition to these, I'm interested in badminton, photography, travelling, upcycling, podcasting, comedy, and arts.
I'm curious about a large number of topics, other cultures, alternative ways of living (like communes or digital nomading), other people's passions and views of the world, psychedelics, philosophy, and a whole lot of other stuff I can't think of right now.

Music, Movies, and Books
Podcasts have taught me a lot and changed my view on many subjects: Dan Harmon, Chris Ryan, Pete Holmes, Joe Rogan, Dan Carlin
Books: Jack Kerouac - On the Road, Hermann Hesse - Steppenwolf, Max Frisch, Franz Kafka
TV Shows: Rick & Morty, Bojack Horseman, Louie, Black Mirror, just started watching Easy
My taste in music is a wild mix including a lot of rock and indie, jazz, swing, funk, reggae, Rammstein, dubstep, oldies. If I'd have to name a favourite band, it would be the Arctic Monkeys.
For dancing, I prefer Latin music at the moment
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I don't really know what would count as 'amazing'. - Hitchhiking to Denmark? Donating bone marrow to a little girl in Italy? Having been a poker semi-pro?
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to learn mainly Spanish, also Italian, Portuguese, Turkish and more if I can. Can teach German and English.
I'm very interested in other cultures and want to know more about all the places I haven't been yet: South America, Asia, Eastern Europe. In return, I can show you around in Cologne and tell you about all the places I've been to.
I'm also willing to teach practical stuff like photography and cooking - always happy to cook with people and share great food. Always looking for people who can teach me some dancing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Positive energy, stories, jokes, ideas. Also, I'm always up for activities such as exploring, photography, dancing, and going out.
If needed, I can offer my handyman skills or cook some of my favorite vegan dishes.
