About Me
Hello future guests/hosts, my name is Martina.
I am a student of Comparative Literature in Zagreb.
Feel free to conntact me either if you are in Zagreb and just want to meet up or if you need a host. I live with a rommate in one bedroom appartment in Zagreb but I'd be glad to share my home with you, please treat it as your own. There is a living room and a pull out sofa you can sleep on.
I don't host that often because my schedule is kind of hectic, but this year I decided to be a bit more active on Couchsurfing.
If you happen to pass through Zagreb I'd love to show you all the nice bohemian places I love, take you through the old parts of the city, take you to a cheap vegeterian restaurant with some good food, show you the market place, a nice caffe in the center of the city, and finish the day with a glass of wine. So, if you are up for a more old-fashioned way of exploring the city that would be perfect. I don't think I would be the right host for you if you are looking for some wild partying. I like talking about books, movies, philosophy and art...but if you are a science geek that is ok too. Maybe I can learn something new.

Music, Movies, and Books
Old jazz and blues, everything from Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Nat King Cole, Miles Davis...
I also listen to Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits because they have that dark romantic quality about them that I love.
Well, if I start describing the books and movies I like and why I like them that could take a while... so just check my facebook profile if you want to know more about my taste and preferences.
It's all quite old fashioned stuff.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn about the world I live in, about the people in it, different cultures, opinions, religions...try different food, see different sights. I never felt I belonged to one place, or one culture, and the older I get it seems clearer to me that there are so many places in the world I could call home.
The feeling of restlessness of not belonging to one time or one country makes you very lonely, but at the same time you belong everywhere. I think my rootlessness is the very thing that makes me want to see the world from all the different perspectives and to understand why we are all so unique and different.
I don't think I have anything to teach, I can only share my passions, my opinions and learn to expand my horizons while meeting new and interesting people along the way.
Countries I’ve Visited
