About Me

I study biology at Charles University and I'm interested in the ecology of insect, insect behaviour and pollination. I come from Sokolov, a small town next to Carlsbad. Currently, I live in Prague on university dorm. I love learning new things and visiting new places but I don't have much time for that (and my older friend just say it's going to be only worse, omg).
In my "free" time I organise biological camps for high school students with my friends. On these camps, we teach the student about different things in biology and also let them try some cool and interesting biological methods (PCR, fluorescent microscopy, confocal microscopy...). And we also do for them some biological and non-biological games.
I also like to read sci-fi novels and watch sci-fi films and tv series.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel of course. But I have found out that it's much stronger. I can't sit in my room for a long time and I need to explore the world around me :)
Recently I've had my first experience with couchsurfing in Morocco and it was great. We stayed at two completely different households and the amount of the knowledge we learned about Morocco was much bigger than everything we learned before.
So if you don't know anyone personally from before I think couchsurfing one of the best options how to get known the people, culture, history, nature in the country you are visiting.

One day I'd like to host couchsurfers but now it's a bit complicated because I'm living in a dorm and porters don't like visitors.

Interests

Except travelling (that most people here like) I like natural science, observing insect, study pollination of flowers and insect movement between the flowers. In my thesis, I'd like to do some research on insect movement.

My passion is going up to the mountains and see the world from there. It's hard to describe for someone who hasn't tried that but the feeling when you go up, just you, your backpack and couple of good friends, the feeling of no cars, no light-pollution, it's amazing. We don't hire anyone to organise our trip, we just search the map, ask a friend for advice, we plan the trip on our own.

I like exploring not just up to the mountains but also under the sea. Unfortunately, I don't have the diver certification yet, so when I'm at sea I'm just snorkelling. But one day I'd like to learn properly how to dive (it's on my very long to-do list).

I also like photography, but I rather stand behind the camera and take the photos instead of being photographed.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mainly I like classical rock, rock 'n roll and similar rock-like stuff and classical music with bowed string instruments (e.g. violin, cello...). I love music from Chuck Berry, Beatles and AC/DC (quite mix, :D). But it depends on the song itself. The rhythm of the music, the words of the lyrics and my mood - all this will affect if I like the music and sometimes it's not much predictable. But for most of the songs, I stay undecided and I can appreciate the originality of the song.
I also like some Czech (or rather say Moravian) songwriters like Karel Plíhal, Jarek Nohavica, Vlasta Redl and Xindl X. And Czech groups like Jananas, Jablkoň, Čechomor and Traband.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I've visited Israel. I've had the opportunity to meet local entomologists and see their insect collections at university, see Jerusalem and their endless sights of the Old city, visit Eilat, snorkel in Red Sea, bath in Dead Sea, visit botanical garden in Ein Gedi and discuss pollination of palm tree with random botanist from Ein Gedi and in the end step on Mount Hermon and see snow in Israel.
And this year we climbed Toubkal in Morocco

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an intermediate guitar player and If you play the guitar I can teach you some Czech songs and I'd be honoured if you can play too and learn me something new.
I can take you to some interesting places in Prague, or give you an advice, but I can also show you my university.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share Czech culture and experiences from Czech Republic and my travels. I can share my photos and talk about many interesting things. If you are just a little interested in biology or mountains I could talk to you for hours :D
But don't worry, I can talk about other things ;-)
