I think Couchsurfing is the best thing to widen your horizont because it gives you the opportunity to meet locals, their culture, rituals and for sure, their city. The city seen by locals and not by a touristic guide. Furthermore, it offers you a place to stay and travellers often do not have a lot of money ;)
