ABOUT ME

Hi stranger, my name's Zoe, I turned 18 this summer after finishing "lycée" in France and passed my ART baccalaureat. I wanted to go and study animation in cinema, but only tried to enter two schools, because I didn't want to enter a school JUST to enter a school. So I tried out the two I liked the most. It didn't work out, and it really isn't a problem : life gave me the fantastic opportunity to travel, have a year to myself, where I could meet new people, new cultures, and all types of different sorts of art.

This is my plan for this year ! Talk, laugh, draw, sketch, sketch, sketch, chat, paint, giggle, sketch again, learn, learn, learn, sleep and smile, eat, share, draw, imagine, laugh again, be happy. It makes quite a busy program, don't you think ?

I can add that I was born in Avignon, a small town in France (very nice place to be during the summer, where there's a great theatre festival), but moved to Scotland for 1 year and 1/2 ('cause my dad's Scot), and then moved to London for the same period of time. Unfortunately, we had to move back to France, and since then I've been staying in Grenoble. Grenoble is a town I love, because the people I love are there, and all the great memories I'll keep from my teenagehood. But the people I love are also in England, and I've been dreaming to go back since I left.

Otherwise, my favorite food is sushi, but I'm also happy with a simple stirfry, or anything you can eat with a spicy sauce.

PHILOSOPHY

I like thinking that we have no hold on our lives, and therefore, we should just let go and enjoy each moment, seasing the opportunities and following our actual state of mind.
Let's do what makes us happy ! Let's not waste the time we spend in this awesome place we live in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Being completely new, I'll say for now, taking part in the experience, spreading the word... I'd love it to become something big in my life, actually.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never, ever, ever experienced couchsurfing before, but it's been something I planned on doing a long time ago. I've stayed at peoples' houses in foreign countries, but I guess it's pretty different. I'm just excited to gain experiences in couchsurfing and start the adventure !

Interests

I try to be interested in the most stuff I can, because I'm curious about everything.
But I can say more specifically that I have always been thoroughly interested in art (all types of art, might it be painting, sculpting, music, dance, theatre, litterture, cinema), because I love how people just put who they are and how they feel and what they think in art.
I love people, meeting new people, and therefore going out, having fun... I'm not keen on nightclubs at all, but I love concerts, events, festivals, having a few drinks at a bar, or just hanging out in parks.
If I can discover beautiful places, I'm also thrilled. I just like walking, searching, and then being mind-blown by nature.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books : I love french literature (Dumas, Maupassant, St Exupéry, ...) and especially poetry (Baudelaire & Rimbaud).

Movies : I love independent cinema, great classics, westerns, and basically all genres if the film is good and worked like a piece of art. I love Tarantino, The Cohen Brothers, Sergio Leone. But my favorite cinema is animation.

Music : I listen to EVERYTHING. In the daytime, I love listening to rock'n'roll, reggea, hip hop, rap, soul, funk, electro. And during parties, I like to listen to deephouse, trance and psytrance, house, drum'n'bass...
My all-time favorites are : Jurassic 5, Outkast, Lauryn Hill, The Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Underworld, The Prodigy...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think it's really hard to pick something in particular. Life has amazing moments, and every moment I spend with the people I love is amazing. But the greatest feeling I experienced was being alone with my closest friends, at night, just facing the sea, the stars above us. Nature makes us feel free, and at the same time, small and peacefull and secure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn ANYTHING. I want to learn other peoples' opinions on life, the way they think, I want them to teach me their greatest passion, what makes them the happiest. I even want to teach really useless things, life whistling with fingers or making a ashtray out of a can. But I have to say I'd really love to learn about photography !
I'm young, so what I can TEACH is a little limited, I think. But I can just try to share my passion, my interests, I can teach a bit of art and chat about artists and art history ! I can also share about my country, and our cultural differences and similarities.
