About Me

Rogelio/Roehl/Roger here, 30 from sunny Manila. I have been living in the city for some time now, but always jetting off. I am currently working part-time as a paralegal to a US law firm while finishing my last year in medical school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am simply hoping to meet the best people here and talk about how beautiful the world is. 🌏 Couchsurfing is such an amazing platform and I've met amazing people and created beautiful memories over the years I'm on it! 😁

Interests

I love music, visual arts, and writing. Science is also a personal favorite, but I'm far from being a nerd. I read books and watch documentaries about world history and I'm fascinated by geography as well. I love cooking as much as I love eating - I grew up from a family of chefs so I kinda know how to roll my pan.

I have a degree in Communication major in Journalism and currently in my last year in medical school.

And as long as it's healthy, safe and not against biodiversity, I certainly do all things in life to satisfy my urge for experience and fun. I do crazy stuff most of the time and I always wanna try something new.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I play anything on Spotify but I find myself repeating the likes of Vance Joy, The Lumineers, Radical Face, Grizfolk, The Head and the Heart, Youngblood Hawke, The Temper Trap, Roo Panes, Blind Pilot, American Authors, Walk the Moon and Passion Pit, among so many others. I love old music too! Christopher Cross, Daryl Hall, John Oates, Beatles, Van Halen, Bruce Springteen, Bee Gees... the list goes on. I don't sing well though, haha!

Books: I read anything from Reader's Digest to Dan Brown. I often bring a book whenever I travel, given an extra space in my luggage.

Movies: Slice of life/comedic films for sure. I also have a particular taste for thrilling films and animation from time to time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

• Crossed town borders on a bicycle for days while doing some last-minute Couchsurfing and naps at some bus stops! 🚲

• Made it to the nationals for a documentary competition and won the gold: I made a short documentation about old limestones, its history and its natural importance for Bohol, a southern province in the Philippines - all I had to research, write, direct, shoot and edit just for a day... one day!

• Hopped on a small boat alone with no vest crossing island to island by the outskirts of the Pacific Ocean!

• Realizing that I grew up as someone who stands up for compassion, children in need and the environment. 🙂

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share stories with you, teach you anything under the sun provided I know the subject matter and try my best to learn your local language and teach mine as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I luckily own my house in the Philippines (mortgage free, wooh!) and I have been living out of my parents' nest since I turned 16 and can share all the space my house has! Provided I'm in the country, I usually cook food for my guests, offer tropical fruits when they're available, music and some good (or not) singing with me, Netflix if they want, European power sockets (lol) and of course, stories! 😊

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Philippines, United States
