About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring and learning about different cultures.

ABOUT ME

I've spent the last few years of my life trying to spend as much time outside or in a studio as possible. I love traveling and getting to know locals and spending as little time being a standard tourist a possible (though I tend to look around and up more than the average local, even when I'm in my hometown.). Trains are my favorite mode of transport, besides my feet, bicycles, skate skis or my imagination. I've grown up traveling in a way that promotes culture over tourism (sometimes, though, these cross).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to participate in most things, but I'm not always one for a late night of clubbing. I like a good beer or wine sometimes, and particularly the conversation that they generate. I love animals, and I'm especially good with dogs. I've been enjoying long walks since my family started taking them when I was 9 years old.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No official couchsurfing experience. Plenty of crashing at friends' places or hammocking. I prefer to spend time with people if and when I can, and get to know their version of the area.

Interests

Art, language, the great outdoors, making and listening to music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked hut-to-hut do a week in La Vanoise in France. It was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen.
I run a tree tops course at a summer camp in Colorado.
I've spent almost too many nights with friends photographing the stars in cool places.
More yet to come, I'm sure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm the person who sits in the back of the class and encourages discussion, even when I don't necessarily agree with the points I am making. I have random knowledge that comes from having a variety of interests since I was young.
I'm glad to share art, music, thoughts, experiences and cultures. Specific areas of expertise: photography, intaglio and relief printing, clay, watercolor and oil painting, drawing, color theory. Conceptual art that never actually gets done. Guitar, bass, mandolin. Basic music theory.
If I'm hosting, I'll be glad to show my favorite spots to eat, play, dance, hike, whatever.
