About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I want to love everyone and create some wild stories along the way.
ABOUT ME
So who am I? Well I’ve been called many things throughout my life. John Raymond Allen Roberts is my full name. I’ve been called Johnny Ray by many people from back home, J-Ray occasionally, shithead mostly from my wife, but the name that I prefer to me referred by is John Ray. I was born and raised in the Appalachians. I am a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, a current graduate student of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and am currently serving in the United States Army Reserve as a Chaplain Candidate to prepare me for active duty time as a Chaplain. I am currently working at Mattingly Edge as a Community Access Personnel for individuals with disabilities and living in Louisville, KY. But more importantly than all those things listed above, I am an advocate for peace, a pacifist, a risk taker, an adventure seeker, and an overall lover of fun. I simply want to love everyone and create some wild stories along the way.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that in such a fast pace world we tend to forget one of the most important things about life, humanity. We are typically focused on so many other things (jobs, mortgages, politics, stocks, war, etc.) that we forget to stop and realize that living in this world with us are living breathing human beings who are subject to injustice in various forms. While it is natural for us to look at the differences of other people, we do not fully understand that it is together that we make up the human race. Together we can create a better world. Together we can create progress. Together we are worth more than we are individually. And these are simple the ramblings of a young dreamer who believes that a better way of life is possible, and it is that dreaming which keeps pushing me onward.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well I am new to the couchsurfing community, but I want to participate in both surfing and hosting. I love both so hopefully I can be fully engaged in the progression of creating a deeper connected humanity through meeting others through couchsurfing.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None, as stated above I am new to the site. I will say I have "unofficially" couchsurfed through the kindness of friends scattered throughout the world as well as spent some time finding random couches, floors, and benches when I spent some time traveling between my college semesters.
Interests
I am intrested in so many things that is hard to put them all here is this small section, and give them proper credit.
I love the art of tea. I use to work as a brewmaster and have been studying the world of tea informally/formally for almost 7 years now. I practice the traditionally Chinese gongfu art of preparing tea. I probably am a little overzealous so unless you want me to talk your head off about all the random tea knowledge I posses I won;t bore you, but if you'd like to share a gaiwan of tea, I would be glad to make some for you.
I'm also into spirituality and existentialism. Which probably explains why I am currently getting my Masters in Divinity. Existentialism can be a real bitch, especially alone, so if you like deep conversations I welcome them.
If you don't like all the deepness and just want to have a gay old time, I'm always interested in beer and spirits. I can always make a unique cocktail for you with my specially infused alcohols ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once wrote entirely too much for my couchsurfing profile which was most likely looked over to just read my couch description.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well as already stated, I know quite a bit about tea and I'm sure my wife would greatly appreciate it if I told someone else about it instead of her. I also know a bit about photography, and random assortment of other things that are probably useless but you know, whatever.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hold a number of hobbies that I can share with those willing to host me. I would be more than happy to perform a tea ceremony with tea of your choosing, I also have had experience as a bartender and can make a pretty tasty cocktail, oh and I also brew my own beer at home which I could always bring for anyone to taste. Of course, I can teach you methods for all of these activities.
Of course if none of those things above interest you, I do take pride in being a jack of all trades. If there is something that interest you just let me know and I'll see if I can make it happen.
