Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am sick and tired of dreaming about it. I am moving to Los Angeles for a film/TV career. I have to be there to get that career. Going after that from afar has only gotten me further away and more dissatisfied, confused and lost.
i also seek self-reliance. Ironic as that is (as I am here on a site devoted asking for help and indeed asking for help), I'm doing this to move out and away from my family and to make it on my own. The only way I can do so cost-effectively is via Couchsurfing.
I have no family, relatives, friends, loved ones, jobs or other reason to be in Los Angeles. I've never been there and I casually know a few people who live there and that's it.
This is a move to LA; not a vacation. I must make this work. If you can help me along the way, you've got a friend for life.

In terms of films,anything in which the protagonist is transformed into something he/she never thought possible, i.e. The Matrix, Wanted, LOTR, Office Space, XXX, etc. Works by iconic directors are a must.
Self-help/improvement books are a big interest for me.
