Overview
About Me
After 5 months of travelling Indonesia i decided to leave my old life behind, quit my job, gave away everything i owned and now i am back in indonesia, looking for things that draw my attention. At the moment i am setting up a children's arts space in Flores, Indonesia.
I am a calm but communicative and interested person, i love the ocean so much and get a little bit stressed when i spend to much time far away from it :)
You will either find me in the water, swimming, snorkeling ... on a boat, with my book reading or learning indonesian, sketching something - or if i have a deadline coming up, you will find me behind my laptop missing out on anything else ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing for me is a very good opportunity to get to know the people, to hear different ideas about life and to experience different concepts of living. I think it is crucial to keep yourself open minded and curious about the world.
Interests
I am graphic designer, so i am always interested in arty stuff. Wheather it is traditional or modern, underground, street-art ... as long as it draws my attention. And i am always eager to learn new skills, like Batik on Java or Ikat Weaving in Flores.
Also i am really into surfing, though i am not good at it - and i realized that only going to the surfspots would limit the experience of Indonesia so so much. I would not want to miss out on everything else there is apart from the surf-beaches.
I also very much enjoy eating and cooking, and learning about the thousand different local dishes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love the rocky stuff, and the guitar stuff. But the longer i am in indoensia, spending time in buses, bemos and on ships with the really really loooud indonesian music - i got so attached to the weird sounds that i already really like it :)
I got a Guitalele as a present, but i still have to learn to play it, i can only remember three songs that i learned when i was 16. So if you can play the guitar, please teach me ...
One of my favourite books is "Exremely loud and incredibly close" by Jonathan Safran Foer (and his "Everything is illuminated") - but don't ever watch the movie, it's horrible and not even close to what the book is like. And i just finished Jonathan Franzens "A Novel", good one! And "Saman" by Ayu Utami, a really good indonesian book!
