About Me

I'm a Mexican independent filmmaker, but that doesn't pay the bills, so I'm also a translator, and I specialize in subtitles for movies. You can look me up on IMDb, I've made two lo-fi features: “Six Pack” in 2011, and “Velociraptor” in 2014, currently screening in film festivals around the world. I also work in other people's movies as an AD (Assistant Director) or a script supervisor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My movie is traveling around the world right now, and most film festivals don't invite filmmakers to attend the screenings, and some do if you pay for your own airfare. That's very disappointing but there are some film festivals that I feel the need to attend and maybe I have the chance to do it, but not all of them will pay for hotel stay. So, here I am. I also think it's a great opportunity to meet fascinating people while traveling the world and sharing my work.

Interests

I love movies. I love watching them, talking about them, and making them. I'm addicted to Netflix, but I also have a pretty cool collection of DVD and Blu-ray.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite filmmakers are Jim Jarmusch, Joe Swanberg, Judd Apatow, Kevin Smith, Sofia Coppola, John Hughes, Gus Van Sant, John Waters, Julián Hernández, HP Mendoza, and many more. My favorite movie is “Garden State” (Zach Braff, 2004) followed closely by “25 Watts” (Juan Pablo Rebella & Pablo Stoll, 2001), but I also love movies like “The Kings of Summer”, “The Spectacular Now”, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, “Whiplash”, “Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind”, “Harold and Maude”, “Mean Girls”, “The Amazing Catfish”, “Raging Sun Raging Sky”, “Chasing Amy”, “The Breakfast Club”, and many more.

My favorite bands are Fall Out Boy and Inspection 12, and I love Robbie Williams, but I try to listen to everything I can.

I don't read much, but my favorite books are “Sula” by Toni Morrison, “A Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, the Harry Potter series, and film books like Tarkovsky's “Sculpting in Time” and Bresson's “Notes on the cinematographer”.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think making movies with basically no money is pretty amazing. I love the feeling of getting your talented friends together and create something out of nothing. Experiencing the audience's reaction during a packed screening is also very rewarding and thrilling.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very clean. Messy, but clean, if that makes any sense. I am a competent cook, especially during breakfast. I love talking about movies, and I'm a very good listener. I also enjoy talking about my country with people who may not know it very well.

Countries I’ve Visited
