About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Marlou (NL) and I'm traveling with my boyfriend Miguel Angel (Argentina). We met in 2019 in Chile and have been traveling together since 2020. Mainly in South America, but in April 2022 we made the move to Europe.
After completing my studies (NL and Australia) and working in an office (Prague) I decided this was not the right path for me. So I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to South America, a continent I hadn't been to yet but always dreamt of visiting. I researched some remote jobs I could do and decided to give freelance translating ago. Luckily this has been going very well for me and I have been able to work and travel like this for the past 3 years.

I met Miguel about 1 year into my trip. He was working in Chile and we decided to meet up again about 2 months later and travel together. He has been working as a videographer with his drone since and has also been able to work and travel like this. (www.couchsurfing.com/people/alvarezmiguelangel)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got in touch with Couchsurfing in NZ, my travel buddies had an account and during our trip, we camped most of the time and did some Couchsurfing in between. We've met some amazing people who really added something to our traveling experience.
Miguel has both stayed with several hosts in South America and also been able to host people where he lived.

As we don't have our own place now and we just travel, we don't have the opportunity to host at the moment. When we settle down somewhere we will be happy to host Couchsurfers as well of course. :)

Interests

Most of all, we love traveling of course! We also really enjoy photography, Miguel is a photographer/videographer and I'm just a hobbyist. We mainly shoot wildlife and landscape.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done was follow my dream and move to Australia. This was how my travel-life started, so without this part, my life would not be the same.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can help with languages, English or Dutch for me and Miguel can help with Spanish. I feel like my Spanish is not good enough to actually teach it, but I can help with words. :)
I've helped many people with tips for where to start when looking for remote work as well. Miguel can help with photography tips.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We enjoy meeting people and are always looking to share some time with people that host us or people we meet on the way. That's part of the travel experience!
Other than that we like to cook for people that host us as well!
